has gone through a six-year evolution. The group, once known as "The Tiger Lords" included Roy Tooth (guitar and harmony), Rick Santoro and Steve Tooth on drums, Rene Roman (lead guitar) and others....
is a group of four California musicians who play the original folk/rock music of Xavier Calvera, Beatles' covers, and some other familiar tunes you don't hear very often.
See a "XAVI AND THE TIGER" show and you'll never regret it! As Xavi (pronounced HA-vee) says, "With a tiger on one side and a Paul McCartney lookalike on the other, who can forget us?"
Our composer and lead singer has a unique story. Xavi was born in Cuba and came to the United States at the age of 14. He loved the melodic music of the late 60s and early 70s and many of his songs have a Lennon-McCartney flavor, but with a Cuban accent!
The band includes "The Tiger," Susi McRoberts (keys, background vocals), Scott Savage on drums and Mike, also known as actor Paul McMichaels (That's the guy who looks like Paul McCartney). He even plays a Hofner violin-shaped bass like McCartney.
