I was born in Calella, a small town by the Mediterranean near Barcelona, Spain. My father was definetly not a musician, but he had this obsession with the great old crooners and big bands from the 40’s. Frank Sinatra, conducted by Nelson Riddle, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald and Loui Armstrong, Nat Cole, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington... and so many others. All those great musicians and singers use to open wide my ears and my soul to a music that I always felt very close. I spent hours singing along to the vinyl records that he used to play all the time. Many years later, and I bet my ‘singalongs’ had a lot to do with it, I made a profession out of singing. I had the chance to play other styles of music in live venues and TV. Rock music, Pop, Country music, Dance, Latin, you name it… But oddly enough, jazz music was left forgotten where your deepest feelings rest surrounded by the most intimate memories, save and dormant. Tired of not finding a way to express myself to full extent though, I took a degree in Audiovisual Comunication at the Pompeu Fabra University trying to pursue my other passion: fiction writing. It was great but somehow, not enough. As time went by, and almost by accident, those childhood memories started coming back. The music that made me daydream as a kid became alive again and has become the main means for my musical expression and the most rewarding. Also, lyric writing was also there to fulfill my literary needs. One thing’s for sure, it felt good! With a respectful gaze of almost veneration for those classics, I want to walk forward to return them what they gave me, willing to make my modest contribution to the music.

Nací en Calella, una pequeña localidad frente al Mediterráneo, cerca de Barcelona. Mi padre nunca fue músico pero sí tenía esa obsesión por los grandes ‘crooners’ y las ‘Big Bands’ de los 40’s. Frank Sinatra, bajo la batura de Nelson Riddle, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald y Louis Armstrong, Nat ‘King’ Cole, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington… y tantos otros. Todos esos grandes músicos y cantantes abrían mis oídos y mi alma de par en par a una música que siempre sentí muy próxima. Pasaba horas cantando al son de los vinilos que ponía todo el tiempo. Muchos años más tarde, y seguro que ello tuvo mucho que ver, cantar se convirtió en mi profesión. Tuve la oportunidad de tocar otros géneros y estilos de música, en directo, estudio y TV. Rock, Country, Pop, Latin, lo que surgiera. Pero curiosamente, el Jazz quedó olvidado donde reposan los sentimientos más profundos, rodeado de los recuerdos más íntimos, en un protegido letargo.
Cansado de no encontrar la forma de expresarme completamente, me gradué en Comunicación Audiovisual en la Universidad Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona persiguiendo mi otra gran pasión: la escritura de ficción. Fue muy positivo pero, de algún modo, insuficiente.
Con el tiempo y, casi por accidente, aquellos recuerdos de infancia empezaron a volver. La música que me hizo soñar de niño cobró, de nuevo, presencia y se ha convertido en mi principal y más satisfactoria forma de expresión. Además, mi vocación literaria pudo nutrirse de la escritura de letras de canciones.
Estaba claro, eso era lo que buscaba.
Con una mirada respetuosa, casi de veneración por aquellos clásicos, quiero caminar hacia delante para devolverles aquello que me dieron, deseando hacer mi modesta aportación a la música.
