Flight of Transition artwork by Peter F. Ortiz June 5 - July 7, 2009 Reception: Friday, June 5, 6-8 pm
La Peña presents “Flight of Transition”, an exhibition of artwork by Peter F. Ortiz. It will be on display at its gallery from June 5 – July 7 with an opening reception on Friday, June 5 from 6-8 pm. The reception will also feature a musical performance by Pati McLean and Crash! Bam! Boom!
Peter F. Ortiz, a native Texan, was raised in the Montopolis area of Austin. He comes from a beautiful family consisting of his parents, seven brothers and one sister. When he was still very young, his mother Frances recognized and encouraged his creative talents. This eventually led to a life of exploring art, both two-dimensional and three-dimensional.
Peter finished high school in 1979 and then continued his studies first at Austin Community College and then at Otis/Parson School of Design in Los Angeles, California. Otis/Parson provided Peter with years of creative nourishment, adding a new depth to the rich experiences he gained growing up with a large, loving family.
"In reflecting back on my life so far, I realize I must thank not only my family and teachers, but also those who have stood alongside me for all these years." says Ortiz.
