Say "NO!" to pigeon holeling!
It's cruel to Pigeons!
A mash up between Punk and classic rock with Prog senisbilites and a dash of humour and a dolp of goodtime...minus super strength beer...
We are a 4 piece rock band from London/Kent borders. No pretention, no bollox just good music!
Here's a quick low down on us low-lifes...
<
Joe is the bass player for Xenon.
What can you say about Joe? He’s the quiet one out the lot - but you know what they say, "It's the quite one's you should watch!" He’s a steady rock-solid bassist with an interest in growing facial hair and is able to say as much with a nod as most men accomplish with a 10-minute conversation.
Joe is defiantly the backbone of the band. His quite demeanour belies his playing ability and his contribution to the band.
Gary the guitarest.
He lives for playing and lives for the band. He is almost as active when playing live as Enon, jumping around like a hyperactive flea or a kiddie sensitive to E-numbers on cheap squash. If Joe the bass players the band’s backbone Gary’s the band’s strong right arm. The love of his life is his guitar, he has been known to sleep with it.
And as a side note he keeps birds of prey and has a Harley, both of which Rev keeps trying to convince him to use in the bands stage act somehow! Sadly both the RSPB & The Harley owners club have said “no”.
Jon the drummer.
You will usually find him tapping away at something, driving everyone crazy. Actually he drive’s everyone crazy if he’s tapping away or not..
The band is really his baby. The sheer power and style of his drumming is a sight to behold. Most people didn’t know it was possible to play the drums standing up.
If Gary’s the bands strong right arm Jon’s the bands webbed toes. Nah, only joking he’s the driving force behind the bands music! Without him tub-thumping away the band wouldn’t be the same. Still the others have been heard to grumble that a drum machine could be in the works if Jon manages to set fire to the studio again with a till lit dog-end…
Rev – Finally here’s ReV (or “Enon” as the band call him). He like’s to describe himself as a frontman and if you’ve ever seen him live you would have to agree that his performance is not to be forgotten. Most bands just get up there and play but The ReV’s love of theatrics & the desire to “put on a show” helps Xenon stand out from the crowd. He is also officially the “sickest man in rock” manily cos he’s always ****ing ill!
He has played in many different bands ranging from the traditional pub cover bands to a signed hard rock act (Dirty Trix) that had residences at the Marquee and the London Astoria to providing vocals for various dance tracks and radio voiceovers. He joined Xenon in September 2003 after jumping ship from a struggling garage rock punk band.
He differs from the rest of the band in many ways but most obviously as he’s the only one not covered in tattoos!
He, like Joe seems to be fascinated with growing facial fuzz and it’s uncommon to see him with the same style sideburns or beard from gig to gig.
Still I suppose it’s a hobby…
For those interested Ian accrued the nickname of “The Reverend” early on when to overcome stage fright he used to don an actual clerical collar and preach the gospel of “Rock N’ Roll and The Church Of The Immortal Beverage” (a pub bar being the altar!) while he chucked handfuls of fake money (with his face on) at the audience, vain bar-stard.

What got you playing?
I got into Xenon simply because I had a guitar...which was great, I just had to learn it first.
I soon gave up and moved onto the bass (thought it would be easier with only 4 strings) and the rest is history.
WOO HOO!

What got you playing?
Originally I was quite shy and it was the only way i had to get over this hence "The Rev" persona but after years of living side by side in my head and gaining confidence the line between him/me and me/him is blurred.
I've always said if your going to have a personality it might as well be multiple!
Been in aload of different bands and was in Dirty Trix for 6 years who were signed and doing quite well till the record company pulled out and our hard work went down the pan.
Had a break from music for about 4 years playing in a Garage Punk Rock band then was asked to join Xenon after Gary auditioned for that band and it ended up with him and John setting fire to each other and rolling round the floor while we continued to audition around them (Gary wasn't asked to join!). Shortly after got a phone call from John AND Gary (weird to speak to one person you don't know then the next person on the line is someone else..) asking if I'd audition for their band, didn't realise it was the "Toxic-Twat-Twins" or I would have run a mile!
LOL

Reading, random acts of cruelty, reading and collecting comics (been reading 2000AD every week for 26 years, mainly into DC stuff but basically whatever takes me fancy!), being left alone occasionally (i was an only child so unless i get some completely on my own time occasionally I get really ratty, some people have said I quite well adjusted for an only child though...), guns, the first week in October when the weather changes, the buzz you get after your second pint before you get pished, cat's (well black one's), real ale, Top Gear, random acts of kindness, old films on BBC2, Limewire, random acts of madness, my mobile (currently Sony Erricson K800i), being with people, cooking, BBC7, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Sci-Fi, horror, church architecture, music (I have eclectic tastes raining from 20's blue grass through to gospel, 60's soul, swing, cheesy 80's, classic rock. Hate music snobs), Britishness, a pint in my hand and the sun on my face, my girls, the buzz you get when you suddenly realise that you can't actually get any drunker, sushi, being organised (i have a gene that means I have to be organised the only problem is the only bit of it that's switched on is the bit that that makes me annoyed when stuff's disorganised..not that I can actually organised anything though..) , the seaside.
