BAND MEMBERS: Shueh-li Ong ~ thereminist, synthesist & vocalist who also performs on the guqin & tin-whistle. John Anthony Martinez ~ drummer/vocalist (USA member).
HISTORY: Xenovibes is the brainchild of Australian born Singapore show designer Shueh-li. This original show takes musicians from each city of call to complement the core touring duo of Shueh-li and John. The feel will always be different because of the musicians themselves (see XV the Show). The premier in Singapore 2004 would be remembered as a show of the United Nations of Musicians; featuring Michael Spicer (Australia), Jeff Long (Singapore), John A Martinez (USA) and its composer Shueh-li. The show opened to a standing room only crowd at the Old Parliament House before making its American debut in 2005 in front of 4,380 people at the Dallas Museum of Art. Read the lineup.
John found his voice through playing e-drums, "Having caught the Xenovibes bug, John is opposed to a cure, citing more vivid musical creations as a good reason to remain "Xenovibed", quote from the 2004 website/DVD interview.
Shueh-li who is best (and humbly) known as 'Singapore's first and only diva of the theremin' (Straits Times Singapore), works with Yamaha e-Drummer John while in the USA in concert productions, workshops and educational projects.

Those who attended included the Australian High Commissioner of Australia, VP of the European Financial Group Bank Singapore and local celebrities.

Xenovibes the Sound: Promotes the conjoining of ancient art with new world technology, east and west. Not forsaking the past for the present nor being precious about the past over the present. Xenovibes is the exotic world where classical meets ethnic, cyber, psychedelic rock, funk, latin rhythms and more.
Xenovibes the Show: The very essence of the Show is disparate musical souls melding in a stream of consciousness exchange akin to jazz improv. Only accomplished musicians who have the discipline of classical training and the flexibility of jazz performance may fulfill the Xenovibes vision. Artistic contributions also come from artists of other disciplines such as multimedia, fine arts and dance.
Xenovibes the Lifestyle: It is about a well-rounded positive energy towards life and the pouring out of this energy creating good things that do not demand an ego trip but for sharing and enjoyment. Its followers are known as Xenovibers or a XenoViber/Xenovibe as in "I am a XenoVibe".

Xenovibes is represented in the USA by the alliance of Electric Muse Singapore and Fingerfoot Music Productions USA. Just stopping by to soak up some 'vibes. In NAMM-prep mode now so the whole world seems cazy to me. Glad to see y'all are still sane (relatively speaking).
I was very happy to see you accepted my friendship here, and this was only a few hours after I discovered your band, your musical sensibility and yourself.
I’ll say that Xenovibes is sort of music I gather to fill the gaps in my chest, I mean my asian ethnicity. Not only you are talented and skilled, your music is beautiful and enters in deep vibration with me. A little handful of asian female musicians can do that, but the way you play the Theremin is unique, this instrument was invented for you.
Because I’m somewhat active on internet, I’ll use (and abuse) my entrances to speak about Xenovibes everywhere I’m registred.
Maybe one day, you’ll come over here and perform a warm concert ! I’ll be in the first row :)
