Lewis Childs (guitar/vocals) is one of the co-founders of the band and has a passion for Brazilian culture. He has been playing Brazilian music for years and has performed extensively with Grupo de Capoeira Regional do Brazil. He plays with the legendary harmonica player Joe Powers in a world music duo, and performs original compositions as a solo artist.
Lesley Kernochan (saxophone/vocals) is recognized as a talented performer and composer both in her captivating singing and signature sax playing. She has performed with March Fourth Marching Band, Trashcan Joe, Jaime Stillway, and Vagabond Opera to name a few. Last year she released her first solo album entitled "Undulating."
Andy Sterling (percussion/accordian/cavaquinho), one of the founding members
of the band, has been playing Brazilian music for as long as anyone can remember. He has led the Lions of Batucada (Carnaval Samba), played with Peruvian guitarist Alfredo Muro, and is currently performing in March Fourth Marching Band, and Axé Didé Dance Company. He teaches percussion at Portland State University.
Jesse Brooke (drum kit/percussion/) often plays the part of three people simultaneously. His versatility and unique approach to playing the drum kit make him highly sought after as a performer and a teacher. He has played with the Lions of Batucada, the Monsoon Ensemble, Jujuba, and currently plays with Trio Subtonic, Myshkin, and Axé Didé Dance Company.
Galen Clark is a gifted pianist who combines lush, kaleidoscopic sonorities from his Jazz background with an uncanny rhythmic sense perhaps gleaned from his own studies in the Lions of Batucada and in Bahia. He is a founding member of Trio Subtonic, which released their first album entitled, "Aqueous."
Bassist Jake Pegg is really a drummer, but they let him put on this electric drum with five strings every now and again. He is founder and director of Samba Já and has played with Old Monkey and New Chevy.
