You tell me what I’m supposed to do. Sit by and do nothing? Should I read from the American Manual of Life and, after 16+ years of education, get a safe job with water cooler perks and a parking space? Eat and sleep when I’m told? Vacation when I’m designated, and celebrate postcard gift certificate holidays?
I don’t want to live safe.
I don’t want to live holding my breath in fear of something “bad” happening. I come from ancestry that runs towards tragedy for a living. There’s no reason for me to be any different.
Maybe I should take your psychiatrist prescribed medication. Refine my dinner party etiquette and social charms.
    or
Maybe I should hang myself from the tallest tree on Ruffner Mountain or jump from the tallest building on 20th Street.
    or
Maybe I’ll choose my own path.
Maybe I’ll deny everything I’ve been coerced into believing and the schedule I’ve been assigned. Maybe I’ll write what I want and breathe how I want. Cover myself in tattoos that only make sense to me and refuse to explain them.

Maybe I will deny the life that someone else penciled my name to.

I won’t stop, I can’t. There are people depending on me, one little girl in particular, and I cannot let her down.
    Glory.
Maybe I’ll go out in a fury of flame and bullets and blood and guts.
    or
    Maybe I will fail miserably.
Whatever happens though, will be my decision.
    I promise you.

(Oh and all passwords should have some reference to satan. It’s a fact.)

Blurbs

About me:

The speakeasy is roaring at 1920 Third Ave North. Soldiers, Gangsters and Hookers are all welcome, along with the suits and ties and barhoppers. The Speakeasy is a blur of martinis, draft beer and punk rock all set in classic dark wood and brick walls. The building used to be a bank and 3rd avenue north used to look like NYC back in the twenties. No password needed.

PART 2 of my double life: I am a motherfucking firefighter for the city of Birmingham. It's what I was put on earth for and it's taken me this long to figure that out. My dad did it in 1976 working the same stations and here i am 30 years later. Father to the beautiful Janey. I Lift weights and run to the point of it being a sickness. Straightedge. I was mall metal when mall metal wasn't cool... Co-owned Unity 1605 and directed the documentary 0274. Sang for the band exhaust. Who remembers the Eclectic Theatre? Thumpers? Tuxedo Junction? Before my time they had shows in an abandoned TV tower called Bubblegum Junction.

"Love's an excuse to get hurt. do you like to hurt? Well I do, so hurt me..."

Who I'd like to meet:

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons.

Hey Mr. Cauldwell, What's happening? Wish Ian and I were back in Birmingham. The Bars here suck! Maybe you should come out here and add some life to Charleston.
