"The press, the media, they're not the judge - God's the judge. The only person you have to think about lying twice to is either yourself or to God. The press isn't either of them."

So obvious that, officially, nepotism does not exist in Singapore!

Singaporeans understand implicitly (hush!)

No worries, The Straits Times will argue sexism away for the good of the nation!
Our national press is good at many things. Among them, commodifying 'rock movements', be it 'underground', 'art-terrorism' or 'forum-theater'. Yeah, better co-opt than abolish in age of Internet, or youths may opt out of Big Brother's corporation. (Shhh... not too loud, might baffle the Channel 8 & 5 crowd.)

"shades of scarlet conquering" - Joni Mitchell

The Human Rights Watch in NY called on Singapore leaders to "end the practice of using defamation suits to stifle political opposition". Singapore’s Govt responded by saying "opposition politicians have the right to criticize the Govt but that does not entitle them to tell lies or defame".

Quite uniquely, only Singapore’s opposition leaders are fond of telling lies since we don’t hear much of other countries’ opposition leaders being sued. (Simple logic? But it's never uttered in the local press! Says much about our 'upright' system.)
