26. Dog Shit Taco - Black Oxide: Chamber Music for a Small Group of Bleeding Mice
Like grease on bone china, this is the sound of blight on the pure, but you know, they still have a good time at it. One of the great new additions to the utterly indefinable LA noise scene, DST combine classically trained vocals, totally degraded electronics, bass, drums and a penchant for sound exploration. This piece includes a beautifully mutilated cover of Steve Reichs Four Organs as well as an original. At the end of it you'll have a headache and a new sense of resolve.
27. Chorused the Animals - The Beasts!
Its like they emerged from the mists fully formed and completely genius; Chorused the Animals is like a magical, childish, prance through a place we can only view through the window of song. It sounds like nothing else - maybe a little Robert Fripp and Brian Wilson merged with the Residents, but clearly they are their own animal. They've opened up a whole new realm of bedroom pop. You haven't heard of them, but if there is any reserve of infinite justice in the universe, you will
28. FoodEater - S/T
Here, another recording from the ashes of Quem Quaeritis. Quem was a band that didnt care which genres it stole from; it was equal opportunity thievery. Really, the main proponent behind the breadth of that band was Matt O'Neill, the bands all-around multi-instrumentalist. In this case he takes on hip hop, jazz and medieval chants. Most, upon first listen, will experience a "what the fuck" moment, but soon enough youll just enjoy it in all of its well-executed absurdity.
All 3 are $3.50 ppd in the USA or $4 ppd in Europe
