Purchases can be made at the coffee shop counter during these times. Mon-Fri, 8 am – 10 pm and Sat-Sun, 9 am – 10pm. Please email Curator(at)Xnil.org with any questions.
The Ecclesia Arts Center not only houses Xnihilo Gallery, but also Venue 2115 and Hyde Park Recording Studio.
Venue 2115 has a stage and sound system large enough to support a full band setup and yet remains intimate enough for a small solo act or the Open Mic Poetry Nights for Houston's growing slam community.
Be sure to check the schedule for the numerous other activites including dance classes and puppet shows.
Above Xnihilo Gallery is the fully equipped Hyde Park Recording Studio. Again, with capabilities for a full band setup or individual recordings, Hyde Park can cater to all your production needs.
Curl up with a good book from Taft Street Books while sipping on some organic fair trade coffee from Taft Street Coffee after exploring the Gallery. With an excellent selection of both post modern and traditional theological literature to match the expansive coffee and tea menu, you are sure to find something to keep you captivated for hours.
Heroes
People willing to expose their dreams and dissappiontments...their thoughts, ideas and musings. Thank you for putting them on canvas and into sculpture and sharing them with us.
About me: Xnihilo Gallery is part of the Ecclesia Arts Center located in Montrose, the arts district of Houston, at 2115 Taft Street between Fairview and West Gray. The Ecclesia Arts Center is an Ecclesia space and houses a coffee shop, a bookstore, a concert venue, a recording studio and an organic food co-op in addition to Xnihilo Gallery.
Xnihilo Gallery exists because we believe that art is part of being a creature, part of being made by the Creator. Artistic expression is participation in the creative spirit of the Creator. As such, art reflects the Truth of the Creator and can generate spiritual dialog among its viewers.
We see Xnihilo Gallery as creating space for just such spiritual dialogue.
NOTE: The Ecclesia Arts Center is proud to offer a laidback, welcoming atmosphere that is slighty off the beaten path, but we recognize that it's unassuming facade can make the space a little hard to find on your first visit. Please take a moment to look at the map and slides at the bottom of this page and familiarize yourself so you can make the most of your visit with us.
Who I'd like to meet: People who want to share their art with us and people who want to enjoy that shared art.

Drums. guitars. Veggie potluck. Come celebrate peace for the earthdance pre-party at my house/studio. Let's get the energy flowing for a big festival weekend. Sept 15th FRIDAY. not sure how it'll all shape up...but it goes something like this: bring your drums, guitars, veggie dish (raw is even better), happiness, new friends coming together relaxing, backyard dancing, good conversation...we'll see where it goes from there.
Your friends and their friends are invited. I'll have water balloons ready. Kids, strangers, artists, Cartwheel enthuisiasts, free-spirits, bonofide nerds, music makers, madmen, people who run naked down the streets , jump in fountains and meditatively say 'yeah' to life, those who like nag champra and being pushed in shoppng carts are all invited. If any of these describe you ...come over to our house and drum, dance, read, play hide and seek in the back yard, watch me catch myself on fire with my poi or just bring my rubbish can in. Let's come together and CONNECT.
