About me:
Mestre Xochinho (Edson R Lima) started playing capoeira in 1987, when he was only 6 years old. He began training with Professor Jordao who today is Mestre Jordao who was a student of Mestre Galvao founder of Grupo Raizes de Capoeira who was a student of Mestre Joel from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Although all this years Mestrando Xochinho had only been a student of Mestre Jordao his capoeira game was influenced by a lot of good Capoeira Masters from Recife who he grew up playing capoeira with, and most of them are teaching the art of capoeira all over the world.
All of these years of dedication and training led Mestre Xochinho to get to a good level of capoeira. He was awarded the level of Mestre from Mestre Jordao. Mestre Xochinho has not yet reached the fame that most of capoeiristas look for but he is proud to say that he had an extensive work done back in his home town in Brazil where for many years he taught capoeira in various parts of the city to people of all socio-economic status in public and private schools, gymnasiums etc… Mestre Xochinho teaches capoeira by demonstrating to his students that they have the ability to truly play Capoeira, and not just to fight and use brute force.
The time came for Mestre Xochinho to leave his town and come to USA to pursue a University Education in Utah at BYU. Parallel to all of this on his spare time he teaches capoeira to people of all ages, and no experience is necessary at his new academy at 530 South 1200 West in Orem.
In the Grupo Vadiar Capoeira the student will find a fun and family place to learn this beautiful art of capoeira with Mestrando Xochinho in its various form as art, dance, self-defense and philosophy of life, you will not only learn to master the art of capoeira itself but also will learn how to play all capoeira instruments, learn the history of capoeira, and sing all the songs in Portuguese. There you will still have maculele, samba de roda and afoxe classes with Instrutora quase morta Mestrando xochinho’s highest rank student and wife.
Mestre Xochinho has participated in many Capoeira events within his home town Recife and Utah USA. Etc… He is open to invitations for capoeira performances at various events like Birthday parties, wedding receptions, schools, ward activitivities, theaters, Museums and etc…
