Laura Ingalls Wilder - enjoyed her childhood Little House stories...but admire her for her writing & her columns she had as an adult, which few people are aware of.

I'm a retired YMCA receptionist, now a housewife, who also happens to run historical 4 wheel drive tours 6 to 8 times throughout the year. My love of the places we go and the great history of each of them, has turned into a passion.
I run a website http://www.explorehistoricalif.com, which in addition to advertising our tours, is an online magazine with histories of the places we go to. I also run a daily blog at http://xplorhistcal.livejournal.com called Traveling Through The Backroads of My Mind, where I write about my personal life, and mull over ideas for the website. I spend my days researching and writing and talking to people on various message boards about the places in the California desert and mountains that I love to go to.
I'm also Mom to a plethora of animals, one of which is Maggie Moore Ho Dog, my 2 1/2 year old rott/lab who is the love of my life, and often goes on my adventures with me. Maggie is named after a red light lady who once walked the streets of Cerro Gordo ghost town, which is my home away from home.

There's nothing like traveling back in time to the town on the hill

Who I'd like to meet: Only a few of the old cribs from the Palace of Pleasure remain on the old Fat Hill today, tired and worn as the women that frequent them. Travel with me as we meet some real charactes in my favorite ghosttowns!
But there's still money to be had in the business, so Lola's packing her extended trousseau for a trek down the mountain.
The stagecoach will be arriving before you know it, so the good Madame can head down the Yellow Grade in style. She'll lay over a few days in Mammoth City, then head to places further north. A trek to Bennetville is in store for one day, so she's packing her walking shoes for sure.
Then perhaps she'll hop a ride on a brewery wagon to Munckton and exchange a few words and drinks with her identical cousin at Dunderburg Saloon.
By the following weekend it's the more than lively town of Bodie where Eleanor Dumont will show her around town and introduce her to some new fillies for the stable,
and teach her a few gambling tricks as well.
The minister called the constable last time Lola was in town,
And a wagon was called to haul her out of town
but hopefully this time she'll do a better job of evading them so she can arrive safely at her own dance hall and saloon on her own time instead of Bodie time.
