Plea for Our Planet:
Please treasure, defend and preserve our Earth – in the present and for generations to come. Our action or inaction count! Legislation and lifestyle changes must occur to accomplish this task, as it is critical to the survival of all Earth's inhabitants. Greed must no longer take precedence over reason and compassion. Our futures start NOW!
Plea for Our Nation:
The following addresses another subject of concern - Bill HR 1955.
Passed by the US Congress in 2007, it portends an end to Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, and Freedom of Assembly in the United States of America. Worst, still, some refer to it as "The Thought Crimes Act". Thus, whereby, even thinking divisive thoughts about OUR OWN government can mean incarceration without representation!
All that is bravely delivered and well rendered ~

And MY MOTHER ~ a beautiful, artistic woman who died young and tragically unfulfilled. She was a true star who never realized how her brilliance shone!
Being so Left Wing I could be GREEN, need I ask:
1) Will Obama preserve the US Constitution and our precious Bill of Rights?
2) Does he plan to address, Constitutionally, the issues that affect our personal freedoms?
3) Does he give an honest presentation of what is in his heart?
4) Will he address the threat of Global Warming to the Environment, and do something meaningful to preserve the planet and wildlife habitats?
5) Will he work with world leaders to stop the perilous and unsettling circumstances we face today?
In any case, may God and the Angels bless and guide Obama and those of his inner circle to do what is right for this country, its inhabitants and our Earth.
Sinister undercurrents that seek to establish the New World Order made me think of "Brave New World" more than “1984”. It appears the populace forever wants to believe what is fed it, and put on the blinders and plod along, like nothing covert is happening. This behavior denotes blind trust in a system we are supposed to control, but have allowed to control us.
LET US PRAY THAT OBAMA IS SINCERE, GOOD AND OF A GODLY NATURE!
Grammy nominee, Xyra occasionally goes it alone. Mostly, however, you will find her amid a backdrop of lavish instrumentation, surrounded by a warm circle of talented, artist-friends.
'Distinctly bright, yet darkly serious!' DARK LINES ... 'Clearly, Xyra has deeper things on her mind.' THE WASHINGTON POST ... 'Be not afraid of the beautiful noise that is XYRA...' WASHINGTON CITY PAPER
For those who care about such things, I was born on the Winter Solstice (December 22) during a full moon, in Munich, Germany, at dawn. My natal sun sign is actually Sagittarius ~ 12 min. 53 sec. before Capricorn. My rising sign is Scorpio/Sagittarius, I have a Gemini moon, a Grand Trine in Air, a T-Square adjoining a Sun-Square-Saturn, and Venus and Mercury conjunct in Capricorn. (More than you probably needed or wanted to know!)
After moving to the United States from Germany, I began music and piano lessons at age five and voice at eight, performing before my teens. Albeit my mater wanted me to sing opera - at age 14, she surprised me with an electric guitar. Soon thereafter, I joined my first band at age 15, playing original music.
During college, I wrestled with the validity singing seriously. This was mostly because my voice was too classically trained to sing Rock 'n' Roll, or so I thought. To get me out of my musical closet, a friend recommended me to Charles Williams - Director of Music Theater at The Levine School of Music in Washington, DC. Charles helped me redirect my focus and thus rediscover my musical prowess, some may say.
On meeting renowned Mezzo-Soprano, Medea Namoradze at a local "Metrognomes" party, I began another phase. Medea wasn't taking any more students, but invited me for an audition. She accepted me immediately, and began coaching me through what was perhaps my most productive period. As
Mark Jenkins coined the phrase on PRI, I became an emerging "Goth-Art-Rock" Chanteuse.
Neither teacher wanted to reel me back into the fold of conventional music. Each had the vision I had ~ for me to emerge as a better version of myself ~ writing, performing and recording my own brand of music.
While comparisons to icons like Lisa Gerrard, Nico, Patti Smith, Annie Lennox or Marlene Dietrich may loom, an NPR announcer who became my manager once said, "Xyra's unique vocal phrasing and melodies, intriguing lyrical content and poignant delivery carve a niche of their own".
You can be the judge and jury. Bear in mind that I'd prefer keeping my head, in this lifetime!
Quotes ~
'In welcoming the advent of provocative change, it is vial that we chose wisely but give ourselves permission to explore new challenges as they are presented to us.'
'Happiness and peace are ours, when 'relaxed focus' and 'no attachment to the outcome', become integral parts of our daily lives.'
