Over 40 artists from around the world contributed an artwork to this 48 page magazine - cover and a third of the pages silkscreen printed by Afreux, the rest photocopied on 80g paper - to help out Yacob and the struggle against asylum camps.

This magazine is a benefit for Yacob and the struggle against the asylum camps. Yacob got arrested in Louvain, Belgium at the 7th of December 2006. From this day on, he has been incarcerated by the Department of Foreigners because he hasn’t got any identification papers. The Belgian state keeps him imprisoned with the aim of deporting him.
During the three months of his captivity, Yacob has been transferred from Louvain to Bruges, from Bruges to Vottem and from Vottem to Merksplas, separated from his supporting network. This happened because protest against his imprisonment and against the existence of asylum camps was growing at both sides of the walls. They tried to break Yacob down by isolating and transferring him, a tactic used to weaken insurgent prisoners.
At the moment of this writing, Yacob is still locked up in the closed asylum camp in Merksplas and he might have to sit another 6 month sentence in prison. Solidarity can be created in many different ways, this magazine is one of the initiatives that has been taken so far.

Appel à participation 2e salon Fais-Le Toi-Même à Lille L'an dernier à Lille, Lézard Actif et l'Hybride ont organisé la 1reédition du salon Fais-Le Toi-Même.On pouvait y trouver des sérigraphies, de la petite édition graphique, des objets fait main mais aussi plus d'une centaine de CD autoproduits et deux soirées consacrées aux courts métrages d'animation réalisées avec peu de moyens et des Films suédés, ponctuées par des concerts de Low Cost Music + Sim#6 , Dj Set de Fletch et Dziski et de Louis Aguilar. Réalisé avec nos propres moyens et grâce à une équipe de bénévoles actifs, nous avons monté le plus beau des évènements entièrement autoproduit.
Nous remettons ça les 26 et 27 septembre 2009 à l'Hybride. Nous souhaitons mettre en avant la production graphique sous toutes ses formes (sérigraphies, graphzines, photozines,...) mais aussi cette année une part plus importante aux labels qui créent en toute indépendance : Cds, vinyls, cassettes avec pochette sérigraphiées ou photocopiées et peu distribués. Deux soirées sont aussi prévues avec concerts, projections et peut-être même un grand barbecue convivial. Lors de la dernière édition, c'est près de 1500 personnes qui sont venues nous rendre visite, l'entrée étant et restant gratuite.

Natürlich gibt es schickere Schuhe. Neuere Schuhe, modernere Schuhe. Aber diese Schuhe wissen nichts von der Welt, waren noch nirgends, haben nichts gesehen, können nichts erzählen. Unsere alten Schuhe haben sich dagegen bewährt und sind zuverlässig. Sie riechen vielleicht schon etwas streng, sind nicht mehr auf der Höhe der Zeit, nicht die neueste Mode, nicht im Trend – aber sie begleiten uns schon lange, Kilometer um Kilometer.
Warum sollten wir uns also unserer alten Schuhe schämen? Wir können ihnen nur dankbar sein, dass sie uns schon soweit gebracht haben. Denn wir wissen, wo wir herkommen, und haben eine Ahnung davon, wohin wir gehen. Wir erweisen Referenzen da, wo sie fällig sind. Und dann betreten wir Neuland, in den Schuhen von Giganten.
Die Ausstellung wird mit einer Vernissage am 27. März 2009 um 19 Uhr eröffnet und bis zum 18. April in der Glanzkinder Gallery in Köln gezeigt.
