Hi! I'm Yael. About me? Well, I'll try to distill it, but as Shrek said, "I'm like an onion Donkey. I have many layers." I'm a graphic designer www.YELLmedia.com, I'm a new blogger http://yellmedia.blogspot.com, and I enjoy making and writing films.
I started graphic designing like many other things in life, I fell into it. Don't get me wrong, I was always creating, drawing, sculpting, acting, singing, and designing from a young age. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. At the University of Illinois (UIUC), I earned a BFA in Theatre as well as auditioning and attending the prestigious Oxford School of Drama Summer Program (UK). After graduating I moved out to Los Angeles to work in show biz. With a friend I started designing a website for a model. I decided I liked it and started taking classes in HTML, Quark, and Photoshop. From there I taught myself Illustrator and started working as a Graphic Designer for a few years. While in CA I wanted to learn more and more and after getting accepted, I completed yr-1 MFA in Film Directing at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). I also attended the Tel-Aviv/Los Angeles Partnership Film and Television Master Class.
I returned to Chicago out of necessity and worked as a Marketing Art Manager for a premiere senior service not-for-profit. Finally, in 2007, I made the move converting my freelance skills into a full-time position after incorporating YELLmedia.
How'd I get YELLmedia? After years of having my name mispronounced, I decided to make lemonade out of lemons. Plus it relates really well to marketing communications.
