Yama Boy (Simon Barry)
is a D.I.Y music project that i started in early/mid 2007. I like lofi sound. I want to share and connect with people. THANK YOU FOR THE ART ADAM.
Bonjour Yamalamadingdong! We're playing two shows this weekend and hope you can, in the midst of all competing ace shows and tiredness and summertime shandy sipping shenanigans and suchlike, come along.
On Friday we're playing at The Workers Club for Otouto's 'Sushi' single launch with Milk Teddy. They just posted the flyer here so, y'know, we won't clog you with it.
And on Sunday, this sweet-as-pie line-up we threw together at the last moment - Sydney's Megastick Fanfare (exuberant, deftly creative pop nouveau) and The Motifs (cute as fuck twee pop). As illustrated below:
Whaddaya say? Whatever it be, we hope you're fighting fit and feeling fine.
Hey Sim, I saw a photo from the Cobra Bar show of us playing, and I can only see the back of your head, but I can see you're smiling. It's awesome.
Wow, Hypo and EDH, playing at the Pompidou, are they gonna fly you over too? That pic taking off the Deutsche Grammaphon logo is so great. When is your collaboration with them gonna be around?
Hey hey monsters...... Cayn Borthwick Band are playing a very intimate and very free show this friday at Grumpy's Green on Smith st with support from Ten Pound Henry (Miles O'Neil of Suitcase Royale). Music starts at 8 and goes till late....
Brisbane outfit Toy Balloon will release their debut album Toy Division on
November 8 through Lofly Records, and to celebrate will perform an east coast
launch tour throughout November.
Formed in 2007, Toy Balloon was
originally a fledgling two-piece made up by Nimai Etheridge’s uniquely melodic
wall-of-sound guitar and Greg Cooper’s beautiful sequenced electronic
compositions. The band have since matured into a four piece featuring Chloe
Cooper (Mr Maps) on key boards and Ben Green on drums.
The album was
recorded and mixed at the Lofly Hangar in Brisbane, a DIY performance space that
Toy Balloon has been an integral part of creating. Fostering emerging artists
and left-of-centre music, the Hangar acts as a performance space, recording
studio, and meeting place; and has resulted in a record with a rich, layered
sound reminiscent of New Order, Mogwai, Boards of Canada, and LCD
Soundsystem.
Catch Toy Balloon launch Toy Division at a venue near you
