"Low-key, late-night-in-a-room musings that hums of spiritual discontent." - Azmyl Yunor
YAMASHITA RIKI was born in 1982, during the beginning of autumn in Ibaraki Prefecture, Tokyo; when the summer ended with fading leaves, and the Japanese people fell in love with the colourful beauty that exists within the close-knit community, at that very moment of the seasonal equinox.
His first three months took place in the rugged scene of the outskirts of the bustling city, some small town called Tomo-be; where "ringo" (apple) trees took refuge from the hurry of mass production. Soon after, he would spend the next six months in America, where his mother rode to graduation. The next geographical transition was nine months after his birth - to a discreet peninsula in South East Asia - Malaysia. It was then that his feet touched the universal soil with true certainty.
His hobbies include writing, playing the acoustic guitar in the wee hours of the night, listening to a broad range of rare varieties of almost unknown musicians (contemporary or otherwise), and watching television commercials.
As with other things, he enjoys experiencing travel via public transportation - where he is likely to derive most of his inspiration from.
