Iwa Yanju's debut album contains 10 tracks of some really eclectic fusion of African acoustic and club dance beats resulting in an edgy club dance music dubbed African modern music.
Yanju's lyrics, whose vocals are originally and poetically colored with technology, are sung in English and Yoruba, one of the most spoken Nigerian languages.
Full of catchy tunes, where syncopated African rhythms crisscross club beats effortlessly, "IWA" is characterized by an unusual and uncompromising melting pot of polyrhythmic sounds and Western synthesized beats, where the two musical cultures are amazingly respected and recognizable in such a way that one never dominates the other.
Iwa was arranged, sound engineered and produced by Valerio Prolestarski. a producer who has produced tracks for mozes (Zero 7 singer) Valerio interpreted yanju ideas and also made up original musical ideas around the concept cooked up by both Yanju and him.
