About me:
Started dancing after studies in music and socio-economical sciences.
By the age of 20 he integrates the 2 years TDMI course in Lyon, France, where he receives his first dances classes (Cunningham Technique).
In 2005 he settles in Lisbon, Portugal, and follows the 7 months F.I.A. at Centro Em Movimento.
From 2006 to 2009 he reaches an advanced level in Real Time Composition technique through João Fiadeiro's and Claudia Dias' pedagogy, still in Lisbon.
As a choreographer, his body of work is built on the exploitation of the identity as dramatical and choreographic material.
From 2005 to 2008 he has created 3 short solos ( FACE / DAQUI EU POSSO_AGORA EU PENSO / 6 JUIN 2003) and a trio (3 TIMES in collaboration with Renata Catambas) following questioning of the inner character of the performer in his theatrical context.
In 2009 he has conceived a non-theatrical performance entitled A Tradução. In this piece his intimate past was interacting with the daily domestic surrounding of the audience/participant reaching a high level of personalisation of the relation performance/audience through the whole process of elaboration. Upcoming, the project EURODANCE, a piece for 5 European emigrant dancers who, like him, live in Portugal since several years.
Besides his artistic creation Yann Gibert works as a producer for emerging choreographers involved with Forum Dança, and teaches workshops of composition based on the meeting of a certain systematisation of his creative process and the authorship of each participant.
