Yannick Minvielle-Debat: Vocal.
Steve Turner: Accordion
Influences
I find most Breton singers totally inspiring, but especially Matthieu Hamon, Charles Quimbert, Roland Brou, Les mangeouses d'oreille with Marie-Noelle Le Mapihan. I also love the singing of Evelyne Girardon and her amazing arrangements of traditional french songs.
I now live in Yorkshire, in the fantastic town of Keighley.
My songs come from the traditional Breton and French repertoire and are all for dancing. I am accompanied by a wonderful accordionist - Steve Turner, who plays for the Eels Grinders (great name), as a duo with Helena Torpy and in a new brilliant trio, Wistman's Wood. I specialise in call and response songs (Chants a Repondre), those mesmerizing and entrancing tunes for dancing so unique to Brittany. I am also involved in running a French and Breton dance group, Les Panards Dansants, based in Leeds. We organise a festival every year in Otley, Le Festival des Panards (of course...). So check out the website for french dancing events and festou-noz.
Also I have a super job, together with Robin Shepherd on fiddle and accordion, we teach traditional french dancing to children mainly in primary schools introducing a bit of language and culture. The kids love it and we do too!!
I am trying to download some of my songs and hope you'll enjoy listening, dancing to them as much as I do singing them.
Thanks for adding Rambles. NET to your friends' list!

Really like your singing - it sends us right back to the Fest Noz's we have been to en Bretagne. Keep spreading that Breizh vibe in the UK. All the best Kiss The Mistress
Thanks for the comment Yannick. Perhaps you will get to see us live: we'll just make sure Keighley is on our world tour! That's the one right after our Kent tour :o)
Salut Yannick! We haven't been in touch for years. Your music is refreshing and brilliant. I hope we meet up again soon.

Thanks for being on myspace. I love traditional music. I have a retelling of a Breton folk take on my regular myspace page blogs (I'm Eddie L. in my friend space), called "The Crystal Palace"... it's like a ghost story. I'm interested in all things Celtic, including those with a French twist.
