DESEM (MC / SELECTOR / OWNER)
Desem started his career as selector in 1992. He joined Infinity 16 in 1995 where he played as the main selector for 12 years. He lived in Jamaica and New York for several years to learn the culture and language. In 2001, he returned to Japan and started to play. While he was playing for Infinity 16, he has done so many things. After participating the all the major clashes, in 2004 he became the champion of the “Shogeki”. After he built the sound system in 2004, he began touring throughout Japan (21 cities). He soon became an icon in the Japanese dancehall scene. . He also became the champion of the clash called “Garrison Showdown 2007” which was held in Brooklyn, NYC. It was there that he defeated Black Kat (Jamaica), Blunt Posse (Bronx) and Earth Ruler (Brooklyn). His mixing in “Garrison Showdown” was on point and impressed many people. His reputation has grown steadily after the clash and he is now rated among the leading Japanese Reggae selector. In 2008, he decided to start his own new sound after the victory of the “Garrison Showdown”. Desem is ready to introduce his new sound overseas as Yard Beat the garrison sound.
TARO (SELECTOR / MC)
Taro started his career around 1999 and joined the sound called “Brain Buster” from Odawara, Japan his hometown. He played for Brain Buster for 8 years and joined Yard Beat in 2008. When it comes to jugglin style, he is one of the best selectors in the Shonan area.
MITCH (INTERNATIONAL MEMBER)
Mitch is legal alien in the United States. He was born in Japan and grew up in Massachusetts. He has been living in America since 1990. His first experience with reggae music was in the early 90’s when he was back in Japan for vacation. It was that trip that he got really into reggae music and started listening to Papa san, Tiger and so on. In late 90’s he returned to Japan for several years and while he was there he started playing at club as the mic man. After playing in Japan for a little while, he wanted to bust into the foreign market and decided to move to New York. It was essentially because the Biltmore days in New York inspired him in many ways. In 2008, he joined Yard Beat.
TAKA (SELECTOR / MC)
Taka started his career around 2005 when he started his own sound. In 2007, he traveled to Jamaica and America to maintain and improve his understanding of Reggae music. By 2008, in a career move he decided to join Yard beat.

Yard Beat was founded in 2008 in Yokohama, Japan by Desem; formerly of Infinity 16. Desem decided to start his new sound after his victory of “Garrison Showdown 2007” which was held in Brooklyn, NYC against Black Kat, Blunt Posse and Earth Ruler.
The members of Yard Beat are the following Desem (Mc/ Selector/ Owner), Taro (selector/MC), Taka (selector/MC), Mitch (International Member) and Holy Box crew (sound system engineers).
Yard beat brings a positive and energetic vibe along with the variety of song selections.
Starting 2008, Yard Beat will expand their career internationally. God Speed!!!
