Ya-Ya’s real name is Stoyan Royanov. He was born in the town of Plovdiv, Bulgaria on the 21st of November 1973.
He finishes the clarinet master class of Angel Bonchev at the music school of Stara Zagora.
From 1987 to 1991 Stoyan is invited to play with the “Swing Dixie Band Gabrovo” leaded by Manol Cokov. The band has lots of concerts and tours in Greece, Austria, Germany and many others countries throughout Europe.
In 1990 “Swing Dixie Band Gabrovo” is invited to take part in the prestigious festival Sakramento Dixieland, California. It turns out that Ya-Ya was the youngest performer (only 16 years old) among all the professional musicians at this event.
In 1992 Ya-Ya leaves for the USA, where he refines his clarinet skills in the Berklee College of Music in Boston. During his stay in the USA he plays with different bands and jazz projects in New York City and Boston.
In 2004 Stoyan Royanov, Ya-Ya decides to go back to Bulgaria with his family.
In 2004 after his comeback in Bulgaria he receives the “Best Debut Award” by the TV music show “Melomania”, broadcasted by the national television.
His first significant performance in Bulgaria is the participation at the Eurovision song contest in 2005. At the final of the contest he is placed on the prestigious 4th position, with the song “Teodos”.
In 2005 he, shortly after that very successful act, Ya-Ya starts working with the band “Upsurt” and as a result they release the song “Drunk” (Piani) from the album entitled “Quattro”.
In 2006 Ya-Ya goes on tour with “Upsurt”. Meanwhile during the same year he records another song together with Kaly entitled “Catastrophe”.
In 2007 Ya-Ya records the song “Words” this time in collaboration with Maria Ilieva. The song held top 3 positions in the Bulgarian music charts for several weeks and is broadcasted on the air of MTV Europe.
The first solo album by Ya-Ya is almost ready and it will soon be released. The album contains 15 songs. Ya-Ya writes the lyrics himself. For the arrangement he counts on Magga and Ganchev. The back vocals are assured by different ethno and pop singers.
Management and record label are hold by the music production company “Joker Media”.
