    Yelena Kuljic was born in Serbia in 1976 and moved to Germany in 2003 to study singing at the Jazz Institute Berlin. Along with her own band, Yelena K & The Love Trio, she has been a featured guest in many music and theater projects through-out Europe. In 2006 she released a solo CD with her band y move on the Minor Music Label, and she has been featured on the 2009 ECM records release of Marc Sinan and Julia Huelsmann’s Fasil. Yelena has worked extensively as a singer and actress with the prominent director, David Marton. Some of the their productions have included such important theaters as Vienna’s Burg Theaer (‘Harmonia Caelestis’ bases on a book by Peter Esterhazy), The Royal Theater of Copenhagen (Insomnia), Schauspielhaus Hannover (Lulu), and the Volksbuehne Berlin (Wozzeck). In response to hearing Ms. Kuljic improvising with melodies form David Marton’s experimental version of Henry Purcell’s Fairy Queen, a Berlin Tagesspiegel critic wrote that she created “Triumphant moments of great art.” In 2003, Yelena Kuljic and Kristian Kowatsch met in Berlin. A musical friendship developed quickly. After working on different projects Yelena K & The Love Trio was founded early in 2006. Ever since the band plays regularly in and around Berlin.
