HERE YOU FIND PARTIES WHERE DJ YELLOW GALACTIC SUN WILL PLAY:
FLYER EARGASM OPEN AIR 2009 (MAGICAL SUMMERCLOSING)
I started collecting cd's from the sixties and the seventies at the age of 16. I started with things like Pink Floyd, Zappa, Captain Beefheart and so on and I realised by the age of 20 that I had too many cd's. So I had to do something with them. So I became DJ. The name Yellow Galactic Sun was born. This is my maya calendar which I got at the Boom festival in Portugal in 2002. A friend of mine, named Jimmy Hendrix, taught me all the things I needed to know to become a dj. I organised with Jimmy my 21st anniversary party called Freakers Ball. We played Flower Power (sixties and seventies). I still play Sixties and Seventies under the name Yellow Galactic Sun. I even played on a Woodstock revival in Germany thanks to the same friend, Jimmy Hendrix, also known as Mr. Kite (flower power), Jimbo (goa), Kaleido (chill-out) He was playing there most of the time.
But then something happened with me later in 2005. I became more and more interested in the more chilly things from the great era of the hippies and the freaks. I was also widely familiar with the Goa scene. There I picked up some nice chill out vibes from yet the same friend (DJ Kaleido) who plays at the Wonderland every year. I became fond of his music and then in 2005 I was asked to play flower power on a Back To Basics Party. I turned out to be playing there almost all night and I played lots of chill too. I even got some great comments on my chill-out set. Since then I'm buying more "ambient" stuff too from all times.
Then in 2008 something else happened to me. I started the organisation "FEED YOUR HEAD as the dormouse said" together with Henk Vereecken (Dj Moonchild) who is widely known in the new wave scene. He also likes flower power a lot and plays sixties & seventies at our parties together with me. With this organisation, we aim at new bands who are influenced by the age of the hippies & freaks ('60's-'70's). We want to bring those bands to an audience in Antwerp. Thanks to the myspace of this organisation I get in contact with all kind of bands from NOW who play music which is very similar to my sixties/seventies collection. Therefore, since 2008 I also buy more albums from these days with a psychedelic/progressive touch, stonerrock, neo-krautrock,... so I can play those tunes at parties too.
Also, another shift appeared: www.flowerpowerforum.be was released early 2009. This is my way to put all the flower power parties, concerts,.. in Belgium in one place on the net. I hope the word gets out and this will become an engaged community which will help to get the flower power out in the open! More parties, more concerts,... That would be great! So therefore these days I focus on flower power (sixties/seventies and music influenced by this era from these days) and play this music only instead of my brief encounter with the ambient grooves.
I hope you enjoy my music and see you at one of the parties where I play!!!
Here you can find sets and mixes of Dj Yellow Galactic Sun going from the Classics of the '60's and '70's, over progressive and symphonic rock to the Cosmic Hypernations and Psychedelic madness!

"Another aspect of the psychedelic vision for me that has been very profound, is the sense that everything is alive or at that at least, there is no distinction between what we call living and non-living."

H. Jackson Brown: Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it, piece by piece -- by thought, choice, courage, and determination.
