The Yellow Revolution is an open collective instigated by students at UWE, Bristol. We exist to facilitate, explore and showcase the potential of CREATIVE COLLABORATION.
We call out to all creative people to get in touch with us with ideas for collaborative projects, big or small, to take place between now and May 2008. Projects must involved collaboration of some kind and should be experimental in nature, given that working with other people always involves an element of unpredictability.
Once enough work is produced, The Yellow Revolution will showcase it by whatever means is most appropriate, perhaps a publication, a website or an exhibition.
If you want to get involved email yellowrevolution@hotmail.co.uk stating your NAME(s), SPECIALISM, LEVEL/YEAR (If you're in education), BACKGROUND, LOCATION and CONTACT DETAILS, as well as an outline of your IDEA(s).
NME.COM BRISTOL GUIDE MENTION - - - "The colour yellow is definitely gaining growing popularity in Bristol. Pioneered by Alex of Kotki Dwa and his friends at UWE it's a movement based on teamwork, creativity, having a good time and of course the colour yellow."
Below are some examples of past projects...
MONSTER: 100 students were invited to draw one of their body parts on yellow paper. The various bits were then assembled to produce one conglomerate creature representing the collective physique of its creators.
YELLOWTOPIA: Yellow Revolutionaries collaborated to paint a mural in the bower ashton bar, a vision of creative utopia, where talented individuals from all specialisms frolick in fields of infinite potential. A land where ideas buzz around like bees and ideas flow like water.
AIRSHOW: Students made hundreds of yellow paper planes and some wrote messages onto theirs. One glorious lunchtime we threw them all out of a tower block window in Bower Ashton campus and they sailed gracefully down onto cheering spectators! It was lovely.
HOT YELLOW SOUP: The Yellow Revolution hooked up with creative club night Hot Soup to put on a delightful evening of art and music at Old Nick's in town. There was doodling and dancing a plenty and guests were invited to indulge in a free cup of piping hot bright yellow carrot and corriander soup.
YELLOW TALK: Students were invited to chat and eat yellow food at The Yellow Revolution's indoor picnic. Discussion topics included inter-disciplinary interaction and students opinions and preconceptions about each others' courses.
