Why the name? Here is why...

YEL.LOW: Informal. cowardly; characteristic of or befitting a coward; despicably mean, covert, or unprincipled: a cowardly attack on a weak, defenseless man.

HEAD: the position or place of leadership, greatest authority, or honor. the position or place of leadership, greatest authority, or honor.

...these people should not be our leaders!

Yelo Head has risen from the ashes of what was once known as Facing Infinity. FI dispersed and all went their separate ways back in 2005. Then Josh Grubbs and Brian Calhoun met (via Myspace of course) in early 2006 and began jamming together. With in about six months they really knew they had a good original sound with great riffs, heavy melodic grooves and brain thumping beats. So Josh talked to his former FI vocalist, Mat ‘MatHatter’ Mayes, to come and lay down some vox on these new songs. These jam sessions went well and everyone was happy with the sound that was being created; dark, but heavy and with a lot of emotion. They decided it was time to get some bass into the mix so Mike LeRose was brought in. Then Mike left after a couple practices do to travel issues. So Ezra Boker joined the group to jam a couple songs, but he left do to work related issues. By the time the first show was scheduled Alex “Troll” Chayka was on board as bassist. He played valiantly for three shows before leaving to play more “technical music”, he was a guitarist at heart. This is about the time Derek “Spicy” joined up on the rhythm geetar, he was in the band for about two months and three shows. But they were still without a bassist, so back to the rescue was the infamous Mike LeRose, who played shows with Yelo Head at Swing State and the Elbo Room in Chicago. He was later replaced by Ezra Boker, who returned after work allowed him more time. But he is now gone to purse other interests. So as it stands today, Yelo Head is in search of a bass player.

Yelo Head is an original Alternative/Metal band out of the Round Lake, IL area. Our brand of music has been by southern rock and metal music and legends of the 70’s. We aspire to find the right mix of that southern metal sound mixed with dark grooves, heavy riffs, face melting solo’s and intelligent lyrics. Music you can chill to, mosh to or simply sit, enjoy and contemplate the lyrics and style.

Yelo Head is a very responsible metal style band that is eager to play any show we are offered. We are professional and have a good fan base. We typically do our own advertising on myspace and flyers. We have played a few shows all detailed below and all the venues have been happy with the turn out and requested us to return on multiple occasions. Cowardly men become leaders by shitting on the people. We aim to call them out and soothe your addiction for rock & metal at the same time! Have an open mind. Stand up against bad leadership and bad government. It affects us all and we have a right to be angry. We intend to release that anger through some beer filled nights jamming for you!
