Influences
Disco rock, indie, Downtempo, Drum machines, keyboards, blocks of wood with strings on, trip hop, funk stylers, this song, that song, your life, politics, the environment, house beats, minimilism, the blues, sex, drugs, no sex, cigarettes, pop music, dance moves, late night doom missions, life’s complexities.
Yen charm night dwellers with supreme electro pop chemistry.
Seeing Yen is visceral on one level; awash with colour and contrast. On another, Yen is an experience of intense emotion and energy. Yen have an unnerving ability to make listeners pause in reflection, but with a sly shift in momentum transform audiences into a raucous celebration, leaving a curiosity long after the click-clack rhythm has disappeared into the night.

“Although Yen weren’t on the gig guide, we heard constant gossip about their spectacular performances. The Chai Tent had a handful of supporters egging on passers by to come and experience Yen. The four-man instrumental jazz funk piece radiated power and passion. Sure enough, the Chai Tent couldn’t fit anymore to dance to Yen’s magic by the time "encore" was repeatedly being called.”
