“Yes Alexander has the gorgeous and otherworldly voice of a young, strung-out angel hustling on some shimmering ho' stroll in heaven. It is filled with yearning and sweetness and hurt and promise. Also, if you have a crush on a person you totally want Yes' music on the obsessive mix CD you make to leave on their doorstep.”
-Michelle Tea
“…— all vocals are by Alexander, whose forlorn, little-girl-lost voice recalls Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval and Cocteau Twins' Elizabeth Fraser.”
-Phoenix New Times
“The alluring, ethereal voiced Alexander, also of the band The Casual Lust, shifts this album into breezy, dream pop territory.”
-Last.fm’s favorite albums of 2008
“Singer Yes Alexander fills an Enya-like role throughout, using her passion-dripped and mostly unintelligible words as instruments rather than the means for a message.”
-URB Magazine.com
“BSBD's work is more textured than ever and with Alexander's ethereal vocals cruising along, you have got a great combination.”
-Remix.com
“…The [Casual]Lust plays folk rock and blues with a slight country hue, composed of Syberg’s sleepy and syncopated snare drum and Alexander’s vocals, which sound like Neko Case roughened by Hope Sandoval’s hollow detachment and the throaty anachronism of Frazey Ford of the Be Good Tanyas.…” - Jenny Miyasaki
-SF Guardian
“Yes Alexander, the lead singer of folk trio THE CASUAL LUST, has one of the finest voices I've heard in a long time.”
Yes Alexander sings and plays guitar in the indie folk rock band, The Casual Lust and is the main vocals in the band Blue Sky Black Death on the album Slow Burning Lights.
