The idea of a Oi!-influenced punk rock band had been kicking around in the heads of founders Kevin Gallant and Jamie Payette, of the Fuel Injectors, for years. But it never came into fruition until the beginnings of Yesterday's Heroes. The once raging punk rock scene in Lowell had since started to flounder and having been around for a while, the two decided the needed to do something. They recruited Andrew and Tito of On a Mission fame. Essentially forming a bastard, mutant, love child of On a Mission and The Fuel Injectors. Tito soon left the band becuase of work conflicts. Andrew moved from drums to guitar and rounded out the line-up with old friend Vin.
Since their first show was on April 6th, 2007 at Feed Your Head Books in Salem, MA the band has hit a roll. They have received air play on WERS' RadioBeat and RadioYou's Bull Rock Radio. They work hard, and bleed it all out on stage and continue to write songs that will leave people touched, having fun and perhaps a bit intoxicated. Straying away from the cliche, and sterotypical punk mantras about anarchy, and failed love. Instead they bring you anthems about good times, work place horrors, their local Irish pub, and even an old sailor shanty. Writing after the stylings of such hands as the Street Dogs and Far From Finished, Yesterday's Heroes brings you a sound that makes you "feel like [you] should be in the middle of Boston Proper!" (Ben Maitland-Lewis - The Thickness) A sound that you can sit and listen to after a hard days work with a pint of Guinness, Bass, or a bottle of whiskey in hand.
Yesterday's Heroes will play almost any time and anywhere. So when and if they come to a town near you, come oun out to a show, join in, and have some fun!
