  • Bio

.. .. .. Yilila come from one of Australia’s most remote Aboriginal communities in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia. Yilila perform high energy roots and world music with displays of colorful traditional Red Flag dancing. Red Flag Songs and Dances belong to the band’s Nundhirribala clan and have come from hundreds of years of contact with the Maccassan traders from Indonesia. Yilila’s songs are rooted in traditional Aboriginal, reggae and rock music and from there they look to the rest of the world for inspiration and sounds. Yilila have previously collaborated/performed with artists like Zakir Hussein, Raka Mukherjee, Sultan Khan, John Butler and David Bridie. Yilila’s lead vocalist Grant Nundhirribala is a master of traditiional music and a highly respected song man and dancer in Arnhem Land. He has recently won 6 awards for his work and has had professional experience dancing and singing with Bangarra Dance Theatre, Australian Ballet Company and Yothu Yindi. Yilila’s first CD “Manilamanila” won 2 awards for “best release” and “song of the year”. Yiliila mix traditional songs and dance into their live performance, giving an unprecented show of traditional Aboriginal music and dance seemlessly melded with contemporary grooves. Grant Nundhirribala’s mixture of traditional and contemporary singing stands up against other vocal legends of the world music scene, with powerful songs in Wubuy, Anindilyakwa, Maccassan language and English. Yilila are currently working on a collaborative music and dance project with the remote village of Watublapi on the island of Flores in Indonesia. Helping other remote and developing communities to use their traditional arts to build business and opportunities, is a focus of the band. Many of the mothers and fathers of the band members grew up and lived as Aboriginal people from their region had grown up from the beginning, in the bush with no contact with the outside world. Keeping their communities traditional culture alive is essential for the cultural health of their communty.

What's goin' on Yilila? Entranced by the sweet harmony of your lips, I gaze beyond reason to find the oasis of your brilliant soul. What wonderful vibrations you are capable of. Your intoxicating reflection can but incorporate freely into the powerful surface of a disintegrating mirror set afloat upon a swarm of locusts. I find your eyes to be a wondrous amusement park filled with neo-plastic pleasures and turkish delights. You are dressed with filaments and people take pains to make you fully incandescent this evening. Your reflections bring happiness that rends naked glass. Your eyes show as many deep and full shades of fire as a thousand supernovas. The elves that play in the toasters wash their drum sticks in honey and sing strikingly colored anthems in perfect harmonious pleasure. The music that flows from your instruments overwhelms me with creativity. Polished rock candy comes ever to mind when thinking of you. A starfish's lifelong hallucinations of gelatin pools and of actuaries floating upon the foam and reciprocal ohm.

Hi friends,we have news for bands on myspace.

Bands can by a personal banner advertisement on Cineversity.TV.
Of course we are not as big as Youtube or Myspace, but we can give you reasonable promotion through our website and newsletter.
On Youtube, Myspace, etcetera there is so much content that you have to be found in the crowd, plus a banner advertisement for one

day would cost around 50.000 Euro per day.
We have a low budget arrangement that will cost you less and you will be seen on one of best music websites in Europe!
We have at the  moment 22.000 unique visitors on the website and they stay on average for 31 minutes, thats even better as Youtube!
And this crowd is still growing.
A banner for a year would cost the band or you, 100 Euro VAT.excluded, and the band is mentioned in our newsletter.
We hold the right to say no to a banner or band.

Interested: send an email to bandpromotion@cineversity.tv
