Arriving on the wrestling scene in 2001 and titled “The Hardy Boyz’ Protégé,” Kirby “Krazy K” Mack has made amazing strides toward achieving his lifelong dream of professional wrestling stardom. Mack has made notable appearances in TNA, WWE, AWA, NWA, World 1 Wresting, FIP, Ring of Honor, and Omega, to name a few. He has been fortunate enough to work with and learn from some of the best talent the industry has to offer, e.g., Matt and Jeff Hardy, Steve Corino, C.W. Anderson, Shannon Moore, and other top-notch wrestlers.

In 2007 Kirby became a branded talent for Dale Gagne’s AWA Wrestling Superstars Live, competing coast to coast and squaring off against some of the toughest opponents in the business. Since then he has wrestled against names like Chris Sabin, Alex Shelly, 2007 Cauliflower Alley Future Superstar winner Ricky Landell, and “The Illustrious” Jonnie Stewart.

In 2005 Mack achieved what some argue to be his greatest victory to date. Along with 30 other wrestlers from around the world, Kirby competed in a tournament to crown a new AWA light heavyweight champion. After a grueling two-day competition, Mack made history when he outlasted Shannon Moore in the final round to become the first AWA light heavyweight champion since the title was retired in 1991. However, Kirby wouldn’t stop there. At press time Kirby had gone on to make history: he has become not only the longest reigning AWA light heavyweight champion of all time, but also the longest reigning light heavyweight champion of all time in any professional wrestling organization. During his reign he has faced and defeated talents like SharkBoy, Chris Sabin, Zach Gowen, Josh Daniels, Chasyn Rance, Nate Mattson, and Japan’s Millano Collection AT, among others.

Today, Mack is competing on another level and is focusing on tag team work with his younger brother, T.J. Mack. Together, they are known as Team Macktion and have been able to achieve a brief run as AWA Tag Team champions.

Kirby has achieved many accolades including 2006 Carolina Wrestler of the Year, 2006 Carolina Tag Team of the Year, and 2007 Carolina Comeback of the Year. He has also been ranked in the PWI 500 in 2004, 2005, and 2007. However, he does not consider any of these to be his ultimate triumph. Mack said, “A lot of people consider a title win, an award, or a contract to be their biggest accomplishment in the wrestling business—but not me. To me, just being able to be part of this business and call most of you not just my friends but my family is my biggest and best accomplishment.”

Though Mack has definitely had his ups and downs in the past seven years, he has continued to defy the odds even when injuries threatened to end his career. He has always demonstrated a fighting spirit and will continue to do so. Kirby believes a true champion is one who doesn’t speak of his own accomplishments, but whose own accomplishments speak for themselves.
