TelevisionIt's in storage up in my cottage. I don't think I've turned it on to watch anything for several months now.

BooksI like to read. I have a pile of books waiting and usually I'm reading 2-3 at a time. I'm reading Free Lunch: How the Wealthiest Americans Enrich Themselves at Government Expense (and Stick You with the Bill)just at the moment, but by the time you read this I'll have finished and will have forgotten to update this.
Heroes"When there is no policeman on the beat the greatest beneficiary is not the taxpayer who is relieved of the cost of maintaining that police officer, but the thief." --David Cay Johnston, Free Lunch "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free...it expects what never was and never will be." --Thomas Jefferson, 1816 Al Gore, of course. The Paradoxical Commandments
by Dr. Kent M. Keith

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

Kucinich/Paul = dream ticket.. with emphasis on 'dream'.

they consistently tell the truth and make sense.. but they could never be the nominee because they are not in line with what the controlling elite want.

like Chomsky says - we are merely spectators not participants in the democratic process. The leaders of America control us all not by force but by the information they continually feed us.

I watched that 33 minute speech from Obama in S.C. last night.. he didn't mention one thing about getting out of Iraq.

I can't vote for John McSame either... he blatantly says that we are not leaving Iraq for another 100 years... and guess what?

he's right.

look at the Embassy that's being built:

http://www. wtv-zone. com/Mary/NEWUSEMBASSYINIRAQ. HTML

think Obama is going to pull the plug on this project? I don't think that anyone can or will.

he's building propaganda against Iran like the Bush Admin... he looks like another puppet for the war machine to me... especially kissing ass to the aipac lobby.

so we have 2 aipac puppets to pick from.. we're fucked. :)

guess I'll have to vote 3rd party.

Thanks for adding me. ¶ Love, not sleep. But people hear only what they want to, so facts won't wake them; inspiration is needed too. ¶ This world's evils have a common root: Bullies, liars, thieves, & murderers — particularly those in public office — believe we're all separate, motivated only by self-interest, by greed & fear. They want us to share that belief; they use it to justify themselves, to manipulate us, to shape the world's political & economic systems, perpetuating war & poverty. ¶ But you & I have found something better inside ourselves & our friends. It's in everyone, even tank drivers & bomber pilots, if we can just wake them; we're all one flesh & blood. Let's spread that vision, for until we do our other advances will be minor & temporary. The outcome of the ideological struggle is not yet determined, so no one can afford to be just a spectator. Join the global conversation; it empowers us all. ¶ The Iraq war, like most wars, was based on lies. The occupation makes new enemies faster than it kills them, helping only arms dealers & politicians. The next war is already being planned. (Same endless war, new location!) The economy is all wrong too: the rich get richer & fewer, everyone else gets screwed, & the ecosystem gets trashed. These old problems have grown so blatant that we've begun to understand them. It's time to end the military-industrial complex & the corporatocracy. We the people must control government & government must control business, not the other way around. A good start would be transparency in government, public financing of election campaigns, trustbusting the news media, & ending corporate personhood. ¶ Question authority. Keep fighting, loving, hoping, singing. Hand in hand, we may still be able to heal the world.

Mar 27 2008 11:18 AM

exactly. That's why we have state taxes.

Here's a scenario that not everyone thinks of: If our next elected president imposes nationwide gun control "to prevent crime"(Hillary, Obama and McSame condone this..so we're pretty much fucked) there will be unintended consequences aside from the fact that gun control is one step towards tyranny.

read about the Australian example:

http://rebirthoffreedom. org/freedom/guns/the-australian-gun-ban/

my prediction is that Hillary will be our next president anyway (and for 8 years). aligns with the Bush-Clinton dynasty since 1989. Then after 8 years from now one of Bush's brothers will be president. :)

much respect,
Fet

YES! THIS IS THE SORT OF WAY I HAVE TO WRITE IN THIS PROGRAM! JUST LOOK AT THEIR CALL FOR PAPERS!

Knowledge, Violence, Discipline: (Re)Thinking Politics and the University

We acknowledge our inheritance of various critiques of the Academy, in which the Academy has been conceived multiply: as an ideological instrument bent on creating capitalist workers, as the technological bedfellow of the military-industrial complex, as a site that systematically elides alterior narratives and reinscribes hegemonic processes, as a location predicated on a disassemblage of the 'theoretical' from the praxical. We seek in this conference to provide a dialogic space in which to critique and reconfigure these radical analyses of 'knowledge-production,' as well as to engage knowledges and epistemic formations which have been deemed illegitimate or simply supplemental, and as a result have been concomitantly tokenized, ghettoized, or ignored altogether.

For, despite the thorough deconstruction of a notion of the University as a politically neutral site, we have also mythified the moments of student revolt that have sought to introduce radical political praxis in the space of the University. This mythification fails to move us to rethink and concomitantly enact effective resistances to current politico-economic conditions, while additionally forcing a re-membering of student revolt which elides instantiations of resistant strategies and radical pedagogical practices both historically and currently taking place in terrains which fall either 'beneath' or 'beyond' the radar of the Euro-/Westo-centric Academy. A rethinking of Politics and the University, we suggest, entails a consideration of 'disciplinarity' which takes seriously the specific violences which attend the institutionalization of 'knowledge' – violences which both open up and close off certain ways and modes of knowing.

We seek submissions that both implicitly a
