About me:

I began practicing yoga during the Winter of 2000. It was just after the New Year, and was looking for a fitness class to complement weight and cardiovascular training. I stumbled upon a power yoga class at Fitcorp after hearing a few members raving about it. I was taken aback at first at how difficult I found some of the stretches and sequences, but enjoyed the challenge. Over the following months, I grew to appreciate the focus I found during each session, and felt myself growing stronger mentally and physically.

In January 2002, I was prompted by an instructor to sign up for teacher training, which led to my first teaching opportunity that Spring. Since then I've been teaching a few classes/week, in health clubs and one apprenticeship with Citizen Schools. My personal style is power yoga; inspired by ashtanga, bikram, and iyengar, but focused more on the power aspect of each, to build strength, flexibility, and (mental and physical) balance. Each session is different from the last, always looking to attempt new poses while practicing the basics.

My teaching is bolstered by continuing to learn and share. My goal with each class is to help each person become stronger through their practice, and give each person what they need and want from that session.
