Hello everybody. My name is Jordan Rain a.k.a. Yogoman. In Yogoman Burning Band my mission is to unite people through music and dance. We make positive and vibrant dance music that is joyful to the heart and soul. I wish to contribute to the betterment of our world, and have found no better ally than music in helping me to accomplish this. Music supercedes many boundaries and borders between people regardless of political, social or religious preference. Breaking down the walls that seperate is still what I think the human race needs to accomplish. To be able to co-exist while accepting if not embracing or at least honoring our differences to be individuals seems to be our biggest challenge as humans. I believe we can do it. As long as we still war and judge each other (even in the small ways) for being different or believing one way is right and another wrong, there will always be room for me to play music and try to dissolve the myriad of ways we alienate each other. Also, because I live in a world where it is essential to make money to survive, I have chosen to pursue making a living playing music. I would rather make a living doing something I love rather than something I loath. Hopefully my worldwide community sees the value of our music and feels good about supporting Yogoman Burning Band. I love supporting music and bands that inspire me. If you dig, spread the word like wildfire; then YBB will be able to travel the world proliferating our warmth around the globe. Thank you!
Yogoman is a character from another planet (YOG), a symbol of wild abandon and ridiculousness, created by NW artist Max Wallace back in the late 80’s. I adopted my friend Max’s character Yogoman, initially as a DJ and later for the band, as a mascot of freedom, and a reminder not to take oneself too seriously.
Bands I have been in up to this point (in my top friends on myspace if you want to hear them): Patterns Make Sunrise ('93-'95), Behead The Prophet No Lord Shall Live ('94-'98), Reeks and the Wrecks ('99-2001), Alamo Social Club ('02-'04), and Guinness & the Reparations (2006-?). To see my full musical history, please check out my solo page at: www.myspace.com/jordanrainyogoman
I moved up to Bellingham Washington from Seattle in August of 1995 for the musical and social ammenities, and finally have amassed an all-star band that incorporates the best of my favorite genres of music like reggae, soul, dancehall and early RnB, all with the grit and honesty of punk/hardcore music. YBB's music truly appeals to an audience of all-ages and we're proud of that aspect.
In addition to bringing capacity crowds to local Bellingham venues for over the past 3 years, Yogoman Burning Band has been fortunate to have played play with Larry Yes, Iron and Wine, Pato Banton, Dengue Fever, Clinton Fearon of the Gladiators, the Cave Singers, Geologic of Blue Scholars, Junior Reid, Pretty Girls Make Graves, the All Nighters, the Love Lights, Sambamore, Sweetheart of the Rodeo, the Dusty 45's, Lucky Brown & Prezident Brown.
Under my alias Yogoman Selector (Jamaican) or Yogoman's Wild Rumpus (Everyting), I hold an annual summer of dance music Wednesdsays, which draw an overflowing and enthusiastic crowd to dance and hula hoop in the Garden Outdoors at Boundary Bay Brewery each week. Yogoman Burning Band will provide live dance music on the third Wednesday of every month throughout the summer @ Boundary Bay outdoors this summer of 2009.
YBB has hosted a number of Fundraiser/Awareness/Benefit events for such local organizations as the Cottage School (Preschool/Kindergarden in Bellingham, WA), Surfrider Foundation (oceanic clean up), RE-STORE (Recycled Building Materials), Conservation Northwest (Animal/Wildlife Restoration), AS Environmental Center (Earth Day), Allied Arts (Belle Strada Festival- community chalk art festival) and Homes for Our Troops (benefitting disabled veterens of war).

Caught you guys in Ventura, CA back in May. What a show. You're band rocks - Vancouver & Whistler would adore you too! Thanks for the CD, I have been passing it along. (I was the one with the cock fight t-shirt!!) Love ya!
I just saw that you list under band members for Mars, "Khaki shorts." Funny, but SO true. I did kid him about that at one point on a cold night. He does occasionally wear khaki pants, though, for a little variety. ;-)
Jordan/Yogoman-- You are most welcome. It was a pleasure hosting you all. Any time you're in Oly, my home is your home. I'm attaching the photo I took of you and Thomas. I think that about says it all! ;-) Hugs, much love.
i got a package of caregoods and love from my mom in my sacred hometown, Ojai cali...inland from Ventura in which she included a copy of the "timeout" section out of the county paper that included a Burning Band article in which she had booked marked wondering if i knew of you.... :) a very fun conversation it will make and phone calls i need to make to alert old friends of your presense, much love and respect from our city and land on a new summer and tour...09' -casey d.
