    "In the absence of Light, darkness prevails."

    Ophelia thought nothing of the inscription above her uncle's library. It was just a few words inscribed in wood. Her parents had sent her to Romania as punishment for being impolite at all their parties. A disgrace for a woman in the 19th century.

    But Ophelia released the challenge that Transylvania brought. The dark forests and mysterious tales enthralled her. One day she came across a book dedicated to a secret race known only as the Nightwalkers.

    They are the guards of Transylvania. The keepers of the peace. Blessed with long life and skilled in combat, almost to the point of being inhuman. They only kill when necessary, but are not afraid to use force. And for centuries they have kept the peace between the forest's mythical creatures and the humans.

    But this peace is fading fast. The vampires are getting reckless. Werewolves are starting to be seen. Pixies play pranks in broad daylight. When Ophelia is almost killed by a vampire, she fears that the foolish stories may be true.

    But, as is the way in these tales, there was a boy. Adrian. As dark and mysterious as the forests of his homeland, Ophelia soon becomes fast friends with him. But everything is not how it appears. And soon Ophelia starts to challenge everything she ever held true, a quest that very well may cost her her life.

Everyone has something to hide. The Students at Opus Holiday Prep know that. Their parents know that. Headmistress Marianne Brody knows that. And that's just the problem. After a student commits suicide in the third floor bathroom, Mrs. Brody goes into action and launches what she has dubbed "The Diary Project". Each student is given a leather-bound diary to decorate as they like. At least three times a week, they are to write in it, with the hopes that having something will prevent another student from spiraling downward. Many students slack. Some outright refuse. Some follow the guidelines faithfully. But they all have something to hide.

    That could be it, you know, like if you live with people that have an accent like in England, you'll pick up the accent eventually. That's how it should work with books. That's a good theory. So what are you doing for mother's day? I know I'm making a card and cake. And I was thinking I could write her a song and have my older sister sing it while I played it on my guitar. My older sister has the "voice" in the family.

    This is really hard to come up with stuff my mom likes, I can't remember what she likes. I don't live with her anymore and those memories seemed to have left with her. Ugh! I can't think. And I have to redraw it all. And I love how you write, it just sounds really pro.
