Yohei Nishiyama started his music by playing the classical guitar back in Japan in his early teens. After several years of formal trainning in classical,his musical interest was drawned to Jazz-improvisation. It was at this time that he also was introduced to night club scenes in Tokyo where Djs @ that time(mid- 90's) were playing such music by Ben Watt, Underworld, Masters At Work, Tei Towa, etc. Having experienced diverse musical tastes in his head, he came to the US to study music @ Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he majored in film scoring and performed jazz in his jazz quartet. After graduated college, he decided to move to NYC to further pursuit his career in film scoring where he has landed in several works for independent movies such as "Freshening Up" featuring Adrian Grenier(HBO's Entourage) & Grechen Mol(Boy of Pigs),directed by Jim Mol and music studios where he was engineering & producing tracks for hip hop production. His recent works include producing tracks for Avex Trax, one of the largest dance music record label in Japan, remixing work for poet/spoken word artist Sean and sound engineering for a live dance band Commandant Zero.Having influenced by diverse styles of music and his career, he still continues to search for his sound and ways of expressing it. He has performed @ various venues in & out of NYC including @ Highline, G2 Lounge in meat packing district, Vault in lower east side, Studio BPM Brooklyn and Inciting, PA. Currently he hosts "AFTER" event @ Midway and is going to start weekly rresidency on Saturday @ Highline starting February
