Back in the summer of 2007 three friends decided to establish and promote a new club night in Southampton. To celebrate this wonderful occasion they invited Domu to spin and a great time was had by all.
That was then, this is now....After finding a great venue and some more inspiration the ’Hello My Name Is’ parties are back for 2008 with several dates already lined up.
After the Deep House sounds and fantastic atmosphere of Atjazz in April we welcome Basement Soul to grace the decks at the Soul Cellar.
A bit of info on the collective...Basement Soul is the club session run by the chaps behind the Unique Uncut record label, namely Graham 'Greymatter' Luckhurst, Amar Patel and Matt Neale.
Fuelled by the passion of Co-Op among other supreme nights put on at Plastic People in London, Friends and Family and Electric Chair in Manchester and the Messin' Around nights at the Jazz Cafe, Basement Soul specialises in futureproof soulful dance music - from disco and boogie, through to broken beats, electronics, neo-soul and hip hop with heavyweight 60's and 70's gems thrown in for good measure.
The aim of the night has always been to create a sociable party atmosphere for people to hear and to dance - inspiring music of real substance for the dancefloor that is free from the constraints of release date and genre, or as they prefer to put it 'freestyle soul music'
Greymatter & Matt Neale will be joining us for this session -expect G's unique blend of broken/disco/lateness plus his own edits, alongside Matt's trademark 'years in the game' lies and hilarious spelling mistake stories.
