Yoni Gordon has never played a show where he did not win at least one person over and make them into a fan. He just works too damn hard [is this language too rough?] and puts so much energy into performing that its impossible not to be swept up in the almost religious fervor that he brings to rock and roll. Yoni is that rarest breed of performer who delivers a packaged deal of great songs, carefully written and keenly observed; a confidence and charisma onstage; powerful vocal chords and clear, chiming, powerful guitar playing. He melds humor, heart and songs born for sing-alongs.
2005 saw the release of I Sing the Hollow Body Electric, a collection of nine urgent, literate rock songs with punk edges and soulful singing. The album earned a spot on the Boston Metros list of the ten best local records of that year. Yoni is currently at work recording his third official release with his power trio Yoni Gordon and the Goods.
Boston music promoter Ben Sisto has this to say about Yoni Gordon:
Yoni Gordon makes Bruce Springsteen look like a lazy upper class intellectual with no time for the common man, and a codeine addiction. The Boss played for like 23 hours straight once Big deal. Yoni did 63.5 before he even checked the clock, which was by accident as he was really looking to a
woman just next to the clock to take her song request. This man is on fire. He will play anywhere, anytime, to anyone. His self-released CD goes the full range, from songs about a man and his beautiful guitar to a This Bike is a Pipe Bomb cover. I swear to God, he is going to be huge.
