INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY. Yorkarts is pleased to announce a special opportunity for interns to work on a major artist project that will be developed in York City. Through a grant from the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, and in partnership with Yorkarts and the William Penn Performing Arts Magnet School, nationally-renowned visual artist Jonathan VanDyke will create a short film in York in the spring of 2010. The film will utilize different buildings and sites throughout the city as sets, with students of the Magnet School serving as the cast. Several project internships are available to work directly with the visiting artist. The project interns will assist is scoping out locations, preparing sets, researching source material, handling various administrative aspects of the project, and with general project tasks as needed. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who works well in a fast-paced environment and can juggle a variety of tasks; the candidate must possess a strong interest in the performing and visual arts. Times and general duties may be modified according to credit requirements for a school program. More information on the visiting artist is available at www.jonathanvandyke.com. ..STUDENT CLASSES..

DRAWING & PAINTING CLASS. $115/resident; $125/non-resident. Tuesdays, March 2-April 6, 2010. 5:30-6:30 PM. Held at YorkArts. Students work with acrylics, watercolor, tempera, pastels, and charcoal while engaging their imaginations, gaining inspiration and learning techniques in creating aesthetic projects. Color, line, creativity, perception, and imagination are considered and encouraged in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Supplies included. Open to ages 7-12. LEARN TO DRAW. $80/resident; $85/non-resident. Tuesdays, April 20-May 25, 2010. 6:30-7:30 PM Held at York Township Municipal Building. Young artists will learn the fundamentals of art while experimenting with various media, including graphite, color pencil, pastels, and pen. Students will be guided through a drawing, followed by a demonstration of the media to be used. Creativity will be encouraged in a positive and supportive environment. While working on their unique pieces of art, budding artists will develop art skills and self-confidence. Supplies included. Open to students in grades 3-5. ADULT BEGINNING DRAWING CLASS. $85/resident; $95/non-resident. Wednesdays, February 3-March 3, 2010. 6:30-8 PM. Held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Red Lion. Learn how to focus on shape and values using simple still life elements. Participants will work in charcoal and graphite. Supplies not included.
