MySpace a place for friends

We're in a red car heading for Spain.

Erik with a panama hat and a huge bouquet of flowers with the name of love written all over them, about to rebuild romance and save life. Kito with dark sunglasses and his pants on fire, eager to scare away the cowboys on the beach. Barcelona offers Cava and Chorizo, and warm, soothing nightly swims. Naked juggelers are lighting fires on waterskis. We're diving, someone softly hitting the bottom scratching his chin, but it doesn`t really matter. All is vaguely reflected in York's songs.

It was cold indeed, as always in Oslo late December. At a Christmas party in a night club, Kito picked up a guitar and Erik lifted a microphone to his mouth. They were about to do a warmup for an already famous singer-songrwriter-friend who was doing a live act later on. Five or six songs later the jamming wouldn't stop, the crowd was singing along and York was born.

Besides warming up winter and cooling down summer with their lovely music both Erik and Kito have been involved with several productions in Oslo. Music, TV, radio, liveshows, etc, the boys have been around. They're childhood friends and their music has been growing since high-school. Now it's blooming.

York has a smooth sound and catchy melodies. The lyrics are vital - melancholic, sometimes rough, sometimes a little ironic. The guitars are passionate yet aggressive and create an incredibly suitable sound for Eriks strong but sensitive voice. Their songs make you stop and listen.

I recently attended a show where the boys had gathered a band and threw a stunning performance. A huge amount of people were there. York let everyone know how they're more than capable of dealing with an audience and how they definitely will continue to do so in the future. I'm looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to more red car driving through Spain, through Europe. Through the world. I'm looking forward to more songs and live acts from York - the new sound of Oslo.
