York City Gospel Choir is a vibrant, dynamic and inspirational group, based in York in the UK, performing a broad range of contemporary and traditional Gospel musical styles.
The choir was founded by Ghanaian born musician, Kofi Mensah, a composer, arranger and producer, with more than 25 year's experience in Gospel music.
An inclusive 40-voice community choir, with members from the City of York and surrounding towns and with ages ranging from 16 to 70. The group performs to a very high standard.
From the ever popular “O Happy Day”, up-tempo originals like “Whom the Son Sets Free”, mellow ballads like Kofi Mensah's "Pulling Down", the choir performs a dynamic repertoire of music to uplift, excite and inspire.
The choir performs at concerts, weddings, christenings, church functions, community and charity events, corporate and private functions, conferences, schools, prisons and festivals.
