Married with one grown up daughter and three dogs.
My youngest and newest arrival is Ellie, a lovely Yorkshire Terrier. She's the 5th Yorkshire Terrier I have had.
Misty and Katie were the first Yorkies I had in 1980 and both lived to be 16 years old! Both were full predigrees and had a litter of pups each, one litter fathered by another Yorkie we had at the time, Skippy. One of Misty's pups went to a home and eventually mothered a pup which we had back, Trixie, making her Misty's grand-daughter.
Skippy was a rescue dog, he was a young adolescent when he came to us. He was thought to be aggressive by his owners who shut him in the coal shed and refused to let him out. Weighing roughly about 4lb I can't see how you could be scared of something so small! We were contacted by a local rescue lady asking if we could go and fetch him and look after him temporary, this turned into a permantant arrangement. She was reluctant to let him stay with him being considered aggressive and my daughter being a toddler, but after a few ambushes from between the sofa she soon learnt to stay out of his way. As he grew older he calmed down and was grateful to sleep on her knee instead of biting her!
Trixie came to us as a pup, she was one more to a litter than was expected, hence the name. She very quickly became the favourite and most spoilt, having the run of the house and the double bed to sleep in, which she kindly allowed my husband and I to sleep in with her! For such a small breed they know how to take the most space up with their size, on your side with your paws outstretched! She had lots of character and always wanted to be by your side if you was in the house. Despite health problems, cataracts, eventually full blindness and deafness and having an eye removed, she managed to negotiate her way through the house and garden no problem and lived to the grand age of 19 years and 10 months!!!! Thankfully she died peacefully and naturally in her sleep after a big breakfast... her appetite stayed the same through out her life!
Ellie is now the only Yorkie in the household, sharing it with a Border Collie, Emma, and a Jack Russel/Retriever Cross, Bonnie. Emma has changed alegience and become Ellie's new playmate, leaving Bonnie to amuse herself! For such a big clumsy dog she plays nicely with Ellie and even lets her win!
I have photos of all my past Yorkie's in my pictures section and photos of Ellie which will be updated frequently. I also have videos of Ellie doing the fun things that pups do as they grow up!!!
