Yoro Noukoussi

Bio:

YORO NOUKOUSSI, a multi-instrumentalist, Singer Songwriter and Sound Engineer was born in North Benin,Africa to the Chief of the Wama People. He learned the art of storytelling and drumming from his family, while traveling the region performing and sharing cultural traditions and ceremonies. As a youth he continued to travel throughout Benin and the neighboring Togo as a member and music arranger of the Presidential sponsored "Saint Therese de l’Infant Jesus choir. His professional career started when he co-founded the "Les Princes du Sahel" Band which became immensely popular throughout Benin. Yoro furthured his education in Switzerland, where he studied Jazz and played regularly with many popular Swiss musicians. He performed African music and storytelling throughout the Swiss schools and community for five years. In Canada, Yoro is in great demand as a performer and Studio Musician. He has mastered the rhythms of the talking drum (donga),congas (kokomba) and djembe and offfers independant classes and workshops. He is a graduate of the Sound Engineer program of the Colombia Academy of Digital and Analog Recording Arts in Vancouver. As an independent accomplished artist, Yoro has performed and collaborated with various musicians at festivals internationally and has presented workshops for over 20 years. He offers Music Education classes, recording and Talent coaching for the emerging music artist. ..
