When did you form?
You Already Know as an instrumental band came to exist in 2008.

Describe your music.
Instrumental Progressive Post-Rock....ish. As far as wanky genre's go, we're backing a winner! We're a heavy math-metal goliath with an indie pop band trapped inside, crying. Like if Tool sexed with Mogwai, and King Crimson stirred the porridge. Sounds ghastly, but we make a good collection of noises arranged in various ways.

Who are your influences?
We've all got some pretty strong musical ties to the 90's, so bands like Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden shaped us all in some way. Bands like Tool, A Perfect Circle, Mogwai, Radiohead, At The Drive In and Fugazi too.

Previous/Forthcoming releases?
We put out an EP in 2006, but it's got singing on it, so it's not really the same music we make now. We have a free single available at ineedmusik.com (who incidently are a hidden gold mine for loads of great free releases!), and an album in June. We recorded our album in a custom built studio (i.e we built it) in one of Glasgows last remaining record stores: Avalanche Records. Recorded during shop downtime throughout the night, we spent about 4 months recording whenever we could. Then Allan spent another couple of months mixing and mastering it. All recorded without a proper studio, money and daylight, what proper punk should be (although we're not punks)

Previous live shows/ supports?
We supported the Deftones at the Carling Academy in Glasgow. That was awesome and apparently Abe Cunningham came on stage to see what the hell Dunc was doing behind the kit. We've also done a few festivals (The Wee Chill, Oxjam, Rock The Boat) and we've even dared adventure as far away as Inverness, Edinburgh, Kilmarnock and Paisley (wow), playing to whoever we can, whenever we can.

Preferred contact details
We can be contacted primarily at mutualusing@gmail.com for whatever enquiries you may have. We are up for gigs with like minded bands.

We had SUCH a brilliant night, thanks again. Patton will really need to buck up his ideas (or at least let us play Kraftwerk between songs) - off to buy tickets now, woo hoo! x

CODES IN THE CLOUDS

'A perfectly presented first statement of their intentions... sending jolts from shoulders to fingertips.' (8/10) – CLASH

Is the world ready for yet another post-rock band? The answer is yes! "Paper Canyon" overflows with gaping gorges of pretty passages prone to gathering momentum before enveloping unsuspecting ears whole... A debut record of real maturity!' Best New Music – ROCK SOUND

'Distant Street Lights screams the word Ambition! with every subtly-crafted chord. Fractures is possibly the most gripping piece of music you'll hear this year, almost like the final chapter from a Jack Arnott novel.' (8/10)
