Shawna- lead guitar, loop machine, and vocals. Moose - lead drums, vocals. Met in a bar in 1995. Shawna a semi-fresh divorcee and lead guitarist in a hard rock original band, Moose, a long haired Italian playing drums in an alternative band. A couple beers and games of pool later, Moose moved into Shawna's living room, 10 days later, the bedroom, but we'll keep those details to ourselves. Anyway, Moose wanted to live in the mountains (they were living in Melbourne, FL where Shawna grew up) and Florida was getting too crowded so they packed up their gear and moved to Bryson City, NC. Wow. Culture shock. But extremely beautiful. Asheville was close enough in case they needed a break from banjo's and churches. So, in and around 1997 they began playing together, in an 8 X 10 space, in a trailer, with the dark brown paneling....cigarette stained. The first official band name was Kwijibo, you will have to view a very old Simpson's episode to find where they got it. Next was Dragonmoose, which spanned several years and quite a few clubs in and around Asheville, NC. Then the side project Solito, an instrumental wankorama devised when Shawna discovered a loop pedal. A quick ruse with The Sky and Myself, a four piece alt rock that put out 9 Christmas Songs. After that band sought new horizons Shawna and Moose got back down to basics with two people and starting writing for the Shitz. They had a problem with some radio, saying the Shitz and all, so came up with a code name, S. Well, S kind of sucked (maybe that's what it stood for sublimely) so they have finally landed their name, Solito. Which is easy for them to remember because it's their last name. Their friends still call them the Shitz, you can too.
It seems that Christmas time is here once again, and it is time again to bring in the New Year. We wish the merriest of Christmas to you and your loved ones, and we wish you happiness and prosperity in the year ahead. Yola

Shawna, thanks for the shout! I don't know anyone who wouldn't want to see a chick lead guitarist playing art punk/acid punk. :) I'll try to make it out and good luck with the brass! Wind instruments are indeed a whole different animal...I personally have never been able to make the switch over to things with strings...
Thanks much! I'm sure we'll play there sometime. It probably won't be soon though. We've been writing/ rehearsing for about six months and we've just scheduled our first show. We appreciate the helping hand! -Jim
