YOU ME AND THE ENEMY - A high-energy, bass-oriented band mixing funky percussive beats and punk rock energy with powerful female vocals. They have attitude and rhythm with an aggressive groove and a social conscience. The project began with Geeta and DomNX four years ago, with the intention of forming an amazing, raw and funky band. Soon joined by Peepshow Pat on drums, they decided, after much deliberation, to create a music combo using just vocals, bass and drums where the rhythm section is upfront.
However, they continued to look all over town for the right guitarist. They auditioned more then 200 people for the job. They were finally joined by Franz Wa, a guitarist who fits perfectly with the sound of You Me And The Enemy , adding to its intensity, to its melody, originality and catchiness.
Fans can expect to be blown away by this band's live show! YMATE's performance is a kick-ass, entertaining, and intense experience with a strong social message. Very energetic and hungry for creativity, their sound draws from the rawness of punk, the largess of alternative rock, and the soul of hip-hop & funk.
Geeta is a singer/songwriter who has been involved with many projects including lending vocals at a live performance of Pigface in San Diego. She has done backing vocals for musicians in the local Montreal scene as well as in London UK, where she lived for a year. She collaborated on a song for the Canadian film PURE that came out in Fall 2005 and was also invited to sing at the Glastonbury Festival 2005 in England with Suns of Arqa, a world music collective. She was recently approached to sing for Le Cirque Du Soleil where she unfortunately was forced to turn down an offer in order to pursue her career as YMATE vocalist. Her soulful and aggressive vocal style is reminiscent of Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin with overtones of the Beastie Boys.
As yet unsigned, the band continues to generate interest in the music industry. You Me And The Enemy are moving fast towards being a hot name on the club circuit. Their first album will be out for Spring 2007.
