TIMELINE
Summer2004-Starts in Fuzhou, Fujian, China, Legendary Punk Guitarist Skip Lunch meets pirate whore drummer Chery Bomb. "I heard you play drums. We should get together some time." Then he delivered a half-hour lecture about the importance of the One beat in James Brown's songs...
Winter2004-After a fruitless search for a bass player, they finally met with Australian Golden Retriever Richie Rich. Richard was way into Grunge so the audition was a piece of cake.
Debut show Nov, 2004.
JAN2005-House band of Jazz & Blues bar and Free Beer 24/7.
This is where we really cut or teeth, playing ALL night Every weekend.
Summer-2005 Chery OD's on X literally carried to the gig after she puked for 10 some hours straight.
- Chery got into a serious fight with people on a bbs . They accused her for "having no national pride", and"blindly worshipping anything or anyone that's foreign" As a result, angry Chery played outragesly on the 2nd Anniversery of OccupyStudios showcase. They blew everybody else away. Those who yakked before now had to admit that You Mei You really was hot shit.
August - BANNED! Battle of the bands..sponsored by a newspaper,and Since all media gets censored by the Culture Bureau, they were simply banned as a foreign band. Losing the cash prize was terrible, but they almost got in Rolling Stone Magazine over that!
TV for millions! 0NSouth East TV "American idol clone" which broadcasts overseas. You could have watched it if you'd had an illegal dish.
As the ghetto town became less and less fun, Skip and Chery moved to Nanjing, Jiangsu for a better music scene Played support for touring bands: notably China's most famous Hardcore band Brain Failure.
Spring Festival 2006 - TOUR! outstanding come-back with a vengeance show in Fuzhou... yet Richie got killed by a knife that night. He was not even 24.
The band must carry on. You'll always be with us Richard.
Apr - Tribute show in Nanjing .
May - Support for China's greatest post punkers, Re-Establishing the Right of Statues (RE-TROs).
Autumn - moved again to XIAMEN CN a great little city in the tropical zone.
Dec. 30, 2006 - Played by the beach with newly recruited session bass player Scary Gary with 6 other local bands. Smoked..em all!
Spring, 2007 - Skip hooked up with music guru Hans Fenger, and a common perspective was created with only two guitars and drums. Instro-Surf, the Nrew Religion.
May, 2007 - After 2 months of rehearsal The CLAMPS! played their terrific debut show at Sundance cafe with other instrumental musicians.
OCT '07 You mei You back together in Bei Jing !!!!!!
