Paul Young is a Free-Lance Drummer and Educator who currently resides in Brisbane. He is regularly playing Jazz, Roots, Country Rock and Experimental music in Brisbane with such groups as 'The Quadratic Contingency', '8 Ball Aitken' 'The Ivory Trio', and 'The Homeless Souls' (Peter B). After returning from his International tour to Denmark, Paul currently tours nationally performing at some of Australias largest festivals, (Blues to Bridgetown, Mud Bulls and Music, Tamworth Country Music festival) with Golden Guitar Nominee '8 Ball Aitken'. Paul has also performed in the theatre scene in brisbane in such shows as 'Rent' (QLD Premier), and 'Tell Me On a Sunday'. His work on various' recordings have been played on Triple J (see discography) as well as numerous other Community Radio Stations. His most recent Recording proects include The Quadratic Contingency, John Meyer (The Internationalists), The Rifle Birds, Peter B & The Homeless Souls, The Ivory Trio, and Bird (Phenoex Movement). Paul's newest project 'The Quadratc Contingency', are currently playing his original compositions. Paul is also a central booking agent for the bands listed below

THE QUADRATIC CONTINGENCY
The Quadratic Contingency is a collaborative Nu Jazz Ensemble that consists of the most outstanding musical talents in Brisbane. The ensemble fuses a musical collage of genres including World, Minimalism, Improvisation, Dissonance and Spoken Word, while maintaining a strong foundation in Organic Modal Jazz. After its formation in 2009, The Quadratic Contingency has proudly performed alongside some of Australiaʼs finest performers such as 'Misinterprotato' & 'The West End Composers Collective' in Sell out concerts . With The release of its new EP, The Quadratic Contingency is highlighting itself as one of the most innovative ensembles to emerge from the Brisbane Jazz Scene.

The Ivory Trio is highly professional and original performance jazz trio. Deriving it's influences from infamous jazz classics, Energetic Funk numbers and infamous latin composers, The Ivory Trio's sophisticated repotoire has left audiences from all over brisbane entranced. Originally formed in 2006, The Ivory Trio has performed hundreds of performances over brisbane and South East Queensland at various functions, performances and occasions.

Hey Paul! The Grand Atlantics are going well for me :) Yes we did a show at the step inn fairly recently, that would have been us loading in. Always good fun! (More fun than loading out that's for sure!)
