The Young, Angry and Poor collective is a newly founded record label, distro and activist network based in Newcastle in the north of England. We hope to release and distribute the finest politically conscious music that we can get our hands on, and also organise gigs, benefits and other political actions within the local area.
The YAP Collective is based upon anarchist principles (you say Trotsky, we shout Icepick!), and thus is anti-state, anti-capitalist, anti-cop and anti-fascist. We seek out all forms of hierarchy, sexism and homophobia and seek to destroy them! But we celebrate the good things in life, such as friends, community, music, poetry and love. If you can't see the good things, then you'll only get tied down in the bad.
Cool! Well I want the lyrics to be all different so I don't wanna tell what all the others wrote. Haha. sorry. But a couple of lines or maybe 4. Nick Brown from The Thieves wrote a short one: "Let them fight in the sun while you fight in the shade. Freedom is just an ice cream away." Pretty cool. Keep it up!
Cool! I make sure to do that! It's not really finished yet though and I need some help from you! The last song to finish the album is a song about freedom and I'm making other people do the work for me writing verses. Everyone involved will have their name on the cover and get their free copies and I'd love it if you could write one! Freedom is the theme and it's about how economy stands in the way of anything else. I'd love it if you could help with 3 or 4 lines or anything! Shoo bre.
