Young Contrarians is C. Browne and a revolving door of Stepford wives, all of which he has met along his travels from Southern California (where he lived with his father and legendary singer-songwriter Jackson Browne) to his current residence in Toronto.
Young Contrarians create simple, haunting and beautiful music; somewhere between Kate Bush, 10cc, early Brian Eno and The Flaming Lips.
That was a great set at Rancho Relaxo. I've always considered the Young Contrarians a Familar Music Supergroup, an alliance of heralded singer-songwriters, creating a sonic novel that owes as much to Wilco as it does to Big Star. There's something about that collaborative energy that's more than the sum of it's parts. A lovely explosion of beauty.
I see the new name search was sucessful! I know it can be a pain in the ass and we appreciate your troubles. Thanks for that man. Maybe a joint show needs to come from this. It would have been just too confusing having too Epigram(me)'s on the same flyer haha. peace
Oh ya! Really like the new posted track. Well done. Looking very forward to sharing the stage with you guys for the Two Way show in September. See you soon
That was a great set at the El Mocambo. An infectious cacophony of that glorious 70's spirit, and fusing it with elements of melodic UK-laced pop and swirling neo-psychedelia. Soaring gems that's like some glittery magical mystery tour. Keys, harmonies, and driving rhythms. Amazing onstage chemistry--a swooning, exuberant sound that, in terms of musicianship, is IMO on the same level of national calibre bands. Entertaining.
